Someone else's name shows up on my caller ID - no one else is associated with my account and customer support can't help
I called a co-worker (so this is professionally embarrassing) and they told me that they didn't pick up because [someone else's name] showed up on their caller ID. I have AT&T service and they have T-Mobile service.
No one else is associated with my account. I don't share a bill, share a line, have other authorized users, none of that.
Customer service looked at the name I had set in my account as my caller ID. I hadn't changed this name in 2 years. They told me that should be showing up. But it isn't. Another name is. And no one can tell me why.
One other important piece of information - when I googled my phone number, my name showed up in a couple links (scary) but one link had this other person's name! No idea why. Does the caller ID that others see depend on anything other than what I set in my account? Based on my experience, the answer is obviously yes. But why? And how can I fix this?
I should have full control of my caller ID. If AT&T can't provide this to me, I can't be their customer. This is embarassing.
