Setting up voicemail outside at&t service area

For anyone who travels a lot like me, and didn't set up voicemail before leaving to let's say Canada. Step one download the at&t visual voicemail app. Step two use the app to set your pin. Step three the app will now fail, but dial your phone number, and this time it will ask for your pin, and it will let you in the account now. Go ahead and delete the app as it's useless to you now.

Or you could just skip the extra steps and dial your phone number in the first place. 😏

Not if you have never set up your voicemail it won't let you. I spent an hour talking to technical support, and ended up being told I'd have to wait to set it up until I got back to an at&t coverage area. This is a workaround that I stumbled upon.
