Service Contacts spam text

I am getting text asking about selling property I dont own. When i try and block the number it comes up as a At&T service contact and wont let me block the numbers. Why would i allow my provider the right to sell my number that im paying them for and they wont allow me to protect myself....from them.

We want to help put an end to those spam messages and phone calls, @aleininger.

Unwanted calls and texts are annoying. Below are a few ways to report offenders and block them:

  • Forward suspicious messages to 7726 (SPAM).
  • Complete the form to help block spam, robocalls, and unwanted text messages.
  • Download AT&T ActiveArmor on your phone to manage future unwanted callers.

You can also check out our support article for more ways to block unwanted call and messages

Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

I agree they aren't looking for a vacation home. My problem is I cant block the incoming numbers, when i attempt to block the number it come up as a att service contact which is unblockable.

Is it a 10 digit number or a 9 digit number starting with 410? If the latter, that indicated a text sent via email, the 410 number is assigned by the email to text gateway and constantly changes. That’s why it can’t be blocked.

I haven't received anything today which is nice but if it occurs again i will pay more attention to the number of digits.

@ATTHelp  I installed ACTIVE armor sometime ago and have been on the no contact list since 2013.lol

I will try the more proactive approach with the 7726 option.

I've been doing it for a long time. It does not help, it is even getting worse. If AT&T started enforcing these reports, you and I would not get any spam. These 7726 forwarding is just a pacifier for customers, so it will appear they are doing something.

AT&T, show that you are actually doing something with these reports. e.g. amount of people/orgs that were fined/blocked?

Thank you for the update, @aleininger.

As @sandblaster and @Constructive mentioned, it is s spam text. We are glad to hear that you have not received any as of today, but if you do, please continue to report and not engage, click any links, or provide any information to these scammers. Let us know how forwarding suspicious messages to 7726 works for you.

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums. We hope you continue to stay protected! Feel free to reach back to us any other questions or concerns.

Clarissa,

I appreciate the reply but nothing has actually been resolved or concerns met. Your initial solution I had already tried and true i agreed to be proactive on my end but Im the customer. Your solution now is to throw the problem over the fence and have me police my own problem, Im not paid by Att. I shouldn't have to do anything but pay my bill.

Hey there, @aleininger.

We understand where you are coming from and how frustrating this must be to receive unwanted texts. We are always working on ways to improve to better accommodate our customers.

When it comes to spam texts, we do recommend what was suggested by our previous agent, Alasani and report the texts as they come in. We understand how inconvenient this may be. We went ahead and submitted feedback on this matter, so we can help come up with other ways to keep our customers protected.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
