Scammer Set Up Voicemail Forwarding on my Phone Without My Knowledge. Can AT&T please alert customers to such changes?
Hi, I'd like to suggest that ATT alert customers if someone changes something on their account, such as adds a voicemail forwarding number. I found out today that a scammer changed my voicemail forwarding to THEIR number 3 months ago. For 3 months, they have been listening to voicemails meant for me. I had no idea this was happening until a friend asked why my voicemail didn't seem to be working correctly. I'm on a family account and we cannot figure out how the scammer got enough access to change call forwarding on my phone. We immediately changed the account owner's password.
I highly suggest ATT send out alerts to customers if there are important changes to their account, such as setting up voicemail forwarding. If such an alert existed, I would have found out a scammer took control of my voicemail 3 months ago. My doctor's messages, my child's school messages... this scammer has access to so much of my personal information because ATT did not alert me that someone changed where my voicemails go.
Please consider this feature, ATT.

ATT will only remote forward to another number on the same account.
How the number was hacked baffles, unless a CS messed up

If that's the case, then this is even more concerning. The number my voicemails were being forwarded to was not on our account, nor known to us. It also took the tech support person about 15 minutes to figure out that my voicemails were being forwarded, so I'm not sure what things look like on the backend, but AT&T should investigate this issue.
