Lied to
Var, a manager at the store I used in wyoming, assured me with the promotion I would get two free Apple Watches. I asked for sure that I wouldn’t have to pay anything but activation. She said no, just activation. And now I’m being charged full price for both watches. And can’t return them, because it’s been over 14 days. So she lied, got the sale, and now I’m stuck paying for two Apple Watches that I don’t even want. Thanks a lot Var.

Sounds like you went to a Retail Store and not a Corporate Store. They both look exactly the same only the Retail Store is independently owned and operated separate from AT&T and are not staffed with AT&T employees. AT&T has very little to no control over how some of the Retail Stores conduct business. If that's the case, you technically did business with the Retail Store and not AT&T. AT&T will only honor the promos and deals listed on their website.
Why did you wait past 14 days if you didn't even want the watches? Have you received an actual bill or are you just looking at the Summary, which can be misleading?

That’s all we have. And I trusted her. Our first bill after getting the new watches was fine. Not until the next bill, 6 weeks after getting the watches, did everything show up. I didn’t want the watches, my son and husband did. But now with these charges we don’t want them. And that Var straight up lied to us, just to get the sale.

Looks like the Jackson Hole & Gillette stores are not branded as Authorized Dealers.

Not branded as Authorized Dealer would indicate they are an Authorized Retailer, which would be the problem.

I thought Authorized Dealer & Authorized Retailer were the same thing. I didn't realize there was a difference.

Under what circumstances were the watches free?
They don't just give watches away for no reason. There had to be a catch.
At the very least, You always have to pay for service on free devices.

@skeeterintexas Maybe I mis-understood what you meant. I use Corporate Store as an official AT&T Store and Authorized Retailer to mean the other type of store. The one that is independent of AT&T and not staffed with AT&T employees. They just resell AT&T goods and services. The same as "stores or kiosks" in Sam's Club, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

We're sorry this happened to you, this is not the experience we want you to have @gina_melger.
Thank you all for your responses.
In the meantime any current promotion AT&T offers will alwas be available on our page under deals. This will allow you to see any promotion that AT&T has to offer.
We look forward to hearing back from you.

I didn’t even know about a promotion, she only said guess what, since you got a new phone you can also get two new Apple Watches. Only have to pay activation. I trusted her and shouldn’t have.
