International Travel Pass
Hello,
I will be going overseas for a few weeks and got the basics on what is charged for usage, but I have two questions that just want to know the setting my iPhone needs to be in.
If I’m using my phone on Air plane mode with Wi-Fi, will that trigger the $10 day pass?
Without Wi-Fi, I use Cellular data but my roaming is always off. Do both need to turn on both, both off, or one of them once I am overseas?
This is probably confusing, but any information is helpful, thank you.

No. Airplane mode means no cellular service. The day pass only charges for cellular usage.
You need to turn data roaming on to use data when roaming. You should only turn data roaming on when you want to use data. Leaving it off until you need data will prevent unintended data usage and might save you a day pass charge.

Thank you, I know I’m going to have to take it off the air plane mode whenever I leave the Wi-if area, but this definitely cleared things up!

Hello @kileened1, we understand the importance of staying connected while traveling abroad.
Thank you, @sandblaster for that helpful information. That is correct, if your device is on Airplane mode then cellular data is not active, and will not activate the International day pass. To roam while out of the country you will need to turn on roaming.
For more information explore tips on using your device while traveling internationally on our help page. Below are a few details about our International day pass to consider.
