Tips On How You Can Keep Your Device Safe!

Setup Passwords on your device

The easiest way into your device is not having a security code. This is step 1, secure your device so only you have access to it!

Your lock screen picture

It says a lot about you depending on the image you use. Don’t use an image that may entice someone to take it.

Keep your phone up to date

OS updates happen often and some of these updates patch possible security risks. Having a rooted phone increases your devices vulnerability.

Know what sites you are going to

Some sites may be unsafe and can carry viruses, malware, and spyware that can affect your device. Do not open a link that you feel may be unsafe! If you do click on a link, close the windows immediately.

Be cautious of installing apps to your device

Some apps require permission to use certain features on your device. Some use your camera and mic. While this may be a legitimate request, there is the possibility for abuse. Reading the reviews of the apps is highly recommended.

Review the apps on your device frequently

Verify what permissions each app has on your device. You have the option to remove these permissions. If you do not use an app, delete it. There are some free security apps like McAfee and Avast you can use to help keep your apps secure.

Be prepared to track and lock your phone!

Both Apple and Google have apps that allow you to track your device. If it is lost or stolen, find it now!

Disable automatic sign-in

Some apps allow you to sign in automatically. If these are banking apps, or other apps that have personal information, disable that feature.

Beware of open Wi-Fi

There are always risk using open Wi-Fi and you never know who is on it on what they may be doing.

Warn yourself!

If you have an Apple Watch or Android watch, there is a feature you can use to be notified when your phone lose Bluetooth contact.

Hope this helps! For more information on how you can protect yourself from unsafe calls, check out AT&T Call Protect

The above steps have been posted to keep your device safer. We are unable to assist if your device was compromised due to a hack or malware.

The last few days I have been getting calls from a phone IF that has only 5 numbers. The numbers are 11115, 11116 and several others and they are never the same number. One call  I was talking and broke away to answer the call before I saw the five digit number and the voice mail recording was saying the password was not correct.

We just started using streaming WiFi from DIRECT NOW TV. This may be connected but who knows? HELP

Problem is with BGW210-700 wireless router not a phone. Micro Soft tech says router has been hacked after doing complete system scan on home network. System now shows 2 conflicting IP addresses, M S says they have a software fix that will protect all network devices and router but cost is high dollar. Since router is AT&T figured they would have a solution since it appears this router has a glitch built in from mfg.

  • ALL phones are far too trusting on the WAN side connecting to [rogue] towers.  Without a bottom up redesign this will continue to be a problem.
  • SS7 is inherently insecure.  Stop using legacy texting [sms].  Find your own hack SS7 articles on the interweb
  • Rooting android gives an informed user the power to protect herself.  Cretins will endanger themselves with any tool.
  • Ignorance is curable. Stupid is a lifetime problem.  Fix the former yourself if you aren't the latter otherwise consult others for device hardening.
  • For severe overkill there is a github build project for hardened android.  Their theory is incompatible with point 3.  You'll need to fix that yourself.
  • Carriers lie.  Case in point: abuse of the world  'unlimited'

AT&T doesn't care about their loyal customers at all. We are viewed as nothing more than a way to pay for the masses that receive the best offers, promos, etc (that should be offered to us instead of having to search for them) only to cancel after reaping the rewards and disappearing without penalty. I have lost so much time and money with this company that I can never get back and sit back and watch as my paid account is used by someone else other than me. I have given up the fight-it's not worth it to me anymore. I survived before cell phones. I wish you all the best and hope you never are a victim. Don't let anyone touch your phones, Get rid of google, yahoo, bing and install Duck Duck Go to protect yourself! Delete cache and cookies, update, backup. read permissions, don't use unsecure wifi, don't download every app or open any email that you are not expecting to receive from a reliable source(they are also easy to duplicate), PLEASE REPORT FRAUD!!! (I was shocked this company actually has a department for that. If you get lucky you might actually speak to someone. The automated system is a nightmare to say the least. They should provide s source to speak to a LIVE person 24/7 and stop charging $5 to speak to a LIVE person because the automated system (Edited per community guidelines), the app and going online are not any better. I know people that are not tech savvy and would much rather do things like in the better days(speak to another human to pay their bill, etc) but when the mighty coin means more than people that's what you get. Lower your expectations so you won't get letdown.

I will close in saying there are some exceptional CSRs and some that obviously are just there for the paycheck but it's the monster/company that refuses to help, assist, care for anything but income. Good luck all and please do your part to make this world a better place by spreading kindness love and peace always.

@prisonernomore42

Masses?  Lol.  Less than 1% get a deal, and those deals have catches, and tie customers for 30 months.  (whether the service works best for them or not).  The rest of us 99% just don't expect something for nothing.  We buy a service - period.
