FREE HBO now comes with Unlimited Plus + Choice!

While AT&T only charges $5 for HBO with DirecTV Now, I think it's $15 pretty much anywhere else. But it looks as if you don't even need to have a regular DirecTV subscription to get this.

It seems pretty simple:

"AT&T Unlimited Plus customers will benefit from HBO included in their wireless plan as follows:

  • If you currently subscribe to HBO through an AT&T video service – DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW or U-verse TV – HBO will now be included for no additional charge.
  • If you subscribe to an AT&T video service but not HBO, you’ll automatically receive access to the premium HBO channels as part of your wireless plan.
  • If you don’t subscribe to an AT&T video service, you can access your HBO content through the DIRECTV NOW and HBO Go apps"

See here for more details.

The biggest issue with this is you can probably have 10 people on your unlimited plan, but only 2 people can stream DirecTV Now, but the HBO Go app is probably a little more lenient on that (but it's not data free*).

And don't they look happy with free HBO?!?Screen Shot 2017-04-05 at 8.50.43 AM.png

 * = While all data is free on Unlimited, non-DirecTV Now data (such as HBO Go) does count towards your 22GB deprioritization limit.

I finally got the resolution to my issue 🙂

If you have multiple lines in your AT&T account on unlimited plus wireless plan, and one of them might have already used the promotion and which is why you get that message.

Try to check with all of your account members if anyone registered in DIRECTVNOW. Or else, try to get with Directv and they will be able to get the phone number and the email-id that is already registered on your account.

Hope this helps!!!

Not going to be much (or really any) help but letting you know you are not alone! I have the exact same issue.

Customer (4-5 lines) on an Unlimited Plus Plan
Cannot sign up for free HBO, Cannot sign up for DirectTV and have my mobile # recognized.
Have done 3 chats with them so far and still nothing.

All I get is:

"It looks like that mobile number isn’t eligible for our limited time offers.
(Error code: 43306)

Picking up a loaner phone from Verizon tomorrow to see how signal is at my house. If good enough will see if they offer me a good enough deal to move all my lines. AT&T and DirecTV now have PLENTY of competition, I assume they know this, just surprised and disappointed my years of being a customer account for so little.

@DDFL24   Did you read the thread?

You are eligible, but there is obviously a glitch.

Verizon currently has Go 90.  It's terrible.  It is similar to Fullscreen, which ATT is giving away.  Plans to offer competitive service are brewing, maybe....

I have read many many threads.  I understand a glitch now and then but if 3 attempts to resolve the issue cannot then I have to assume it may never get resolved.  I can only speak for myself but I have noticed in the past that anytime I signup for something that increases my bill the process is flawless. Anytime something is 'free' or reduces my bill it is a battle.  Already decided that ATT is no longer worth the fight and will be switching cell service to another carrier.

Plenty of streaming TV options in the area I live in (Orlando, FL) including YouTube TV starting soon.

Have a good one!

That's relatively simplistic, they bill you or they add it as a charge.

But I see lots of people complain about getting insurance adder or place on 30 month Next instead of 24 next (or they said no activation fees or no credit check or deposit).

Anytime something is 'free' or reduces my bill it is a battle.

Free is instantly more complicated as is the same as a purchase, plus they have to credit you the credits, plus it has to meet all the criteria. "Free" isn't just ringing up as $0.00 at the register. Nor is it like a BOGO for cans of corn at the supermarket, those are immediately rung and you are done or if there is a problem, they fix it immediately and you are done.

Plus no once complains if they are charged too little or receive extra credits.

I'm not defending AT&T in this statement, I'm just making it clear that obviously "free" process are clearly more complicated than just buying.

Already decided that ATT is no longer worth the fight and will be switching cell service to another carrier.

Don't forget, no proration on your final bill!

If you plan to use your phone on another carrier, be sure to unlock it before you leave and then VERIFY it is truly unlocked before leaving. Unlocking should be simple, but sometimes it's a mess so don't get stuck with non-working devices.

Hello :). I have free HBO with the AT&T Unlimited Data Plan. After 6-8 phone calls to AT&T customer service, one call to DirectTV and one trip to my local AT&T store in person, I still have no solution. I am supposed to receive free HBO with my AT&T telephone plan and am unable to receive it(*I do NOT have DirectTV; I am NOT a DirectTV customer). The issue I am having is this- I downloaded the DirectTvNow app onto my phone and created a username & password successfully. When I try to login to the app it tells me I can't; I have changed passwords 4 times. The page recognizes me but will not let me login. When I tried to start the process over, the "verify phone number" page tells me "I am not eligible or my phone number is not eligible" when we know that I am.

This has become incredibly frustrating as I've been trying to solve this for almost 2 whole weeks now and have made 6-8 phone calls & one trip to my local AT&T store, not to mention all the time spent online researching. The reps in customer service seem to really not know the answer- two of them actually told me I could not get HBO because I did not have DirectTV in my home while the other 5 reps disagreed with that and said that I could. The other calls to CS I was disconnected for some reason after very lengthy discussions trying to figure out the problem, and on my visit to the AT&T store they told me they did not know how to help with this issue because they were "just a franchise". Any help anyone can give me would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you.

After 4 hours of dealing with this issue on the phone with ATT, I have decided to cancel and move to T-Mobile with free Netflix ... ATT doesn't deserve my $400/month.
