Free HBO Max w/Qualifying Unlimited Plan and DirecTV?

When you have Unlimited Elite (or the Unlimited Plus plan that used to be sold), it is marketed as getting "Free HBO Max."  Does this only mean you get the HBO Max app for free, or does it mean it is free on your DirecTV (traditional) receivers at home, or U-verse, etc?  My DirecTV bill is charging me $14.99/month for HBO, even though I have Unlimited Plus plan on my wireless account.  I am the primary account holder for both, and my billing address is the same.  And yes, I have activated and redeemed the "Free HBO Max" link on my account on

It clearly says I should be getting HBO Chanels included at no additional cost on my DirecTV service.

The following wireless plans have HBO Max included at no cost.

  • AT&T Unlimited Elite
  • AT&T Unlimited Plus
  • AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice II
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced
  • AT&T Unlimited &More Premium (if you chose HBO® as your premium channel)

When it comes to streaming HBO Max on an eligible wireless package there is a limit of 1 HBO Max account per BAN (Billing Account Number).


Also, an account can use 3 concurrent streams and includes usage only in the domestic coverage area. Business wireless packages do not receive access to HBO Max.

ATTHelp did not answer the question. Yes, you should get the HBO satellite channels on your Directv included also. When did you activate the HBOMax included with your Elite plan? It took about a week after I activated the HBO through wireless before HBO got added to my Directv account. I also was not already paying for HBO through Directv. Since you were already paying for HBO through Directv, that could mess things up. I’ve seen others eventually get that $14.99 credited back each month. I can’t say for sure that will happen in your case. You may need to cancel the HBO through Directv and wait for it to get added back at no charge.
