Desired Phone Number Not in List

Hi,

I see that it's now possible to choose a phone number as a Wireless customer by going to "manage add-ons" under the particular device and choosing the change phone number. There's an interface to find/choose a phone number.

The number I am interested in is not available right now, though I am sure it is an AT&T number (I am trying to recover a phone number for my partner, who lost this number some years ago - it is sentimental)

Is there any way to:

a) be notified if/when the number becomes available?

b) contact whoever is currently in charge of the number to try to negotiate something?

Cheers!

No

No.

When services canceled on a phone number it goes back to the carrier of origin. In some cases that may not be the carrier that was used last. That carrier May reassign the number, reserve the number, and there should not reassign the number for a minimum of 45 days.

Consumers cannot request a specific number. That list of numbers you're seeing online is random numbers that are available. There are usually a longer list of random numbers available if you go to a corporate store. They can even refresh the list a couple of times to give you more choices. But that's it. You cannot choose a specific number. Businesses, with a tax ID number can choose specific numbers for business purposes. So unless you own a business account or are opening a business account you will not be able to recover the number

there is no longer a way to choose a specific number other than the 3 or 4 numbers that pop up when wanting to change
