Can you add a prepaid GoPhone to a family plan?

Yes, it's possible. The easisest way would be to say you want to add a line and you already have a device, they'll give you a new SIM & number and you'll just put it in. If you want to keep the number, I'm sure that's possible too but you will lose your prepaid account balance.

Yes,  when you add the line to your parents account like was described, you will not have a service contract, so you will just be on a minth-to-month basis much like a pre-paid plan.  You can cancel that line at any time with no extra fees.
