Calls to my phone getting sent to some one Else's voice mail box?
Yesterday morning my husband tried to call me but got forwarded to some unknown person's voice mail box instead of mine.
I Brought my own unlocked device to AT&T over a year ago. It is a Samsung A11 and it has been working, just every so often AT&T changes something and I have to go through a couple days to get them to re-initialize it or something like that. But at this time it is working for Talk, Text and Data. And was working for voicemail as far as I know until yesterday (last voicemail I can confirm getting was probably a couple weeks ago though.)
I've been trying to figure out why he got sent to some one else's voicemail when my voicemail is set up.
The help articles say to disable call forwarding.
I did not set up call forwarding.
When I go into the call settings and check supplementary services I get the error
"Failed to read data"
"Something went wrong. Check your SIM card or network then try again."
I am still able to go into Call forwarding. (these are the settings)
Always forward
No number set
Forward when busy
Forward calls to +14072427686
Forward when unanswered
Forward calls to +14072427686
Forward when unreachable
Forward calls to +14072427686
I did not recognize the number +14072427686 but when I called it, it seems that is the call in number to reach my voicemail when I call it from my cell phone number.
So how do I fix this. The sim card and network appear to be fine. Why is my voicemail going to some other woman?

Ok, I have restarted the phone. It still gives me the error when I try to check the supplemental services.
I did just manage to call myself from another phone and it did go to my voicemail when I declined the call.
This is still worrying to me to have calls directed to some unknown other person's voicemail box.

We are here to help you with your calls getting sent to someone else's voicemail box, @TCLynx.
We do understand how important it is to make sure your calls are not getting sent to another number. When you are in your Call Forwarding settings and you see that number that you provided above, are you able to remove it? From the Call forwarding screen, select Always forward then select Turn off.
Note: To change the Call forwarding number while Call forwarding is already active, from the Always forward screen edit the phone number then select Update.
Try that and let is know if the number reappears of if you are still not receiving any voicemails to your Galaxy A11.

I can change the number but it doesn't appear to let me just remove it.
In
Always forward
No number set
I would have to enter a number in order to turn it On and since it is off, there is no option to turn it off. Are you telling me I need to turn ON always call forward? I don't really want to risk that since at this point in time if I set it to always forward to voicemail I'm not sure it if is going to go to my voicemail or not.
As far as I can tell the actual problem doesn't seem to be with my device since I didn't actually change anything on my device (other than powering down and turning it back on) between when my husband was sent to a different voicemail and when I was able to call from another phone and was able to reach my own voicemail when trying to call my number.

My carrier is AT&T which is why I'm posting here.
The number it is set to forward to I believe is the number to the voicemail box so that seems appropriate for voicemail to be able to work right?
The question is, WHY (what sort of computer glitch is going on) does it sometimes go to MY voicemail and other times go to some one else?

Here's something that can help with your voicemail experience, TCLynx!
On your phone's keypad you will want to dial *#004# and look for the information that displays. The first section will display a phone number where calls go when they are forwarded. This is called the voicemail deposit number.
After that, click Done or Finish (depending on your phone) then dial ##004# which will reset your call forwarding settings to the intended network default.
Once that's complete, dial *#004# again to check if the number is different. If the number is different, have your husband dial your number from his phone again and see if his call forwards to your voicemail.
Try this and let us know how it goes. If this doesn't work, we will want to a closer look into what could be causing your experience in order to reach a definite resolution for you.

I did the reset. The phone number didn't change. But as I noted in a previous post, it went to my voicemail when I tested it 2 days ago.
And just had hubbie test it and it is still good.
My question is what sort of glitch is this that can change the voicemail deposit number? And apparently change it back too?
Is there some step I should be taking regularly to make sure I catch and correct this error if it were to happen again?

Ok I'm feeling really blind here. What message icon?
I see the Profile menu Icon in the upper right corner.
I see the Notifications Icon
When I click on either of those it doesn't give me a "reply" option.
Where am I supposed to be getting this message At?
Thanks,

Well that is interesting. I just went over to att.com to see if it was something over in my notifications over there that you meant about messages. And when I came back here, There is now a message Icon with a red dot up just to the Left of the Notifications bell.

I had the exact same problem, did the erasure thing and the number didn’t change. I use this line for my business and I can’t save my custom voicemail greeting and today someone said my voicemail belonged to some random lady named Karen ! Super not good
