AT&T Voicemail service out now for 4+ days? Really?

My questions are simple:

Is AT&T voicemail really out of service for days now?

Does AT&T have any means to notify us when this happens?  Or provide a means to get VM service availability status?

I've been receiving "New Voicemail" notifications since 10/18.  However, nothing shows up in Visual Voicemail so I go ahead and select the notification which dials a voicemail access number.  I enter my pin and after 10sec or so I hear "the service you selected is unavailable please try again later" message.  So I finally called the support number today and after a very confusing conversation with a heavily accented person, I think I heard that AT&T Visual voicemail is out of service for all service providers.  I tried to explain that even when I dial the VM access number directly, I get the "service unavailable" message.  I honestly tried very hard to understand what she was telling me but the 'conversation' exasperating. For example, when I asked her to repeat her last statement, I was asked if I could go on hold (first time I said 'sure'), or she would ask me in the middle of answer 'what number are you calling from?' which made no sense because we covered all that at the beginning of the call.

I'm beyond unhappy with no clue as to what messages I've been missing or when (if ever) I'll have access to them.

Hi @jcjohnson55,

Thank you for reaching out!

A recent software update to some devices has generated congestion. We are working with the device manufacturer to issue a patch to resolve this issue. There currently is no ETR (estimated time of repair) on when this will be resolved.

A workaround that is currently working for most customers is pressing and holding 1 to gain access to your voicemail from the device until the issue is resolved. If you need to reset your voicemail password, go to Voicemail Password Resets.

Thank you for your patience.
