ACCOUNT VERIFICATION -- Unblocking my SIM

I am unable to access my ATT account. The only verification method I am provided is sending a code to a phone number that I cannot access because my Sim has been blocked. I dont understand why there is not any other way I can verify my account, through email, DOB or payment method, or anything else really.

I went to the AT&T store today to try and fix this and came out disappointed after two hours there. I was unable to verify my account in person because apparently my name is not associated with the account, which I was unaware of. Instead, my account is under the title "Prepaid Costumer". They said it must've been set up as that four years ago when I got my account in Rhode Island, and that because of this they couldn't verify it. The only option was to give me a new phone account and a new, more expensive, prepaid plan.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to access my account and unblock my Sim. Because of work reasons, it would cause a lot of trouble to change my phone number now. I am hesitant to get a new account with ATT and would like this month's money back if this really can't be fixed.

Hello, @afairban. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns about your prepaid account after visiting out store.

The in store agent you spoke with is absolutely correct. You would need to create a new account under your information, since "Prepaid Customer" is unverifiable. We regret the inconvenience this has caused and also regret to inform you that we do not issue refunds for prepaid accounts.

Thank you for using AT&T Community Forums!

Why is your AT&T SIM card blocked from the network?

The only reasons an AT&T SIM card would be blocked for a prepaid user is if you have not paid for service, or if you have used the SIM card in a phone that cannot be used on AT&T because that phone is either blacklisted or incompatible.

Hello, @ATTHelp

Thank you for your response.

This is really disappointing to hear. Please stop setting up accounts without costumer's name. I gave all my ID information when I last set up my account, I don't understand why your employee would name my account "Prepaid Costumer". Please forward this message, this is a big inconvenience for me and I think there should be a way to fix it on your end especially giving that it is a ridiculous mistake in the system.
