Microcell has reached end of life and At&t no longer sells or support them. As 3g is systematicly shut down the microcell will stop working.

The most usual reason for a MicroCell stopped working is the AC power adapter is defective. This happens quite frequently with a device over time.

If you can find a replacement AC adapter you may be back in business.

As mentioned in this thread, the MicroCell is no longer sold or supported and the drop-dead date has not been determined but it will cease to function when 3-g service shuts down.

The MicroCell website already is barely functional if you can even access it or sign in.

Almost every device AT&T currently sells is capable of Wi-Fi calling which is the replacement technology.   If you are not using Wi-Fi calling, this feature is included in most devices but is not on by default. It must be enabled and your 911 address verified in order to use Wi-Fi calling

Sounds like my usefulness is coming to an end also 🙁

AC adapater - check with a voltmeter so see if it reads 16VDC +/- 0.5 with no load. If not replace with a like adapter and see if that works.

WiFi-C - to use WiFi-C effectively within range of a MicroCell that the phone is registered to, either power down the MicroCell or place your phone in Airplane Mode to disable its cellular radio. Some phones (almost all) will have issues deciding on which signal is strongest to connect to (the MicroCell's 3G signal or your WiFi signal) so call quality issues will occur.

The MicroCell is technically still supported but in reality all Support will do is go thru a few troubleshooting steps and then tell you to switch to WiFi-C.

The sunset for the MicroCell service is about a year or so from now. Whether current, active MicroCell users will get a text from AT&T with a shutdown date or no is still unclear. I've been trying for a long time to have AT&T notify users once a firm date is established but it has fallen on deaf ears.

Uhhh, I know what? Me being and old man and beauty sleep 😉, lizdance40 being in the same boat, the MicroCell service going away, or how to properly use WiFi-C around a MicroCell? 😁

The MicroCell has nothing to do with 5G as it is 3G only. The MicroCell issue is probably related to a faulty ac adapter as I mentioned. Your phone is WiFi-C capable (WiFi Calling) so you don't need the MicroCell unless you have other phones that are not WiFi-C capable. If you don't need the MicroCell just power it off and put it on a shelf somewhere.

Enable WiFi and WiFi-C (they are not the same thing), put in your address when asked for WiFi-C (that's an FCC E911 requirement) and you should be good to go. You may have to turn off your phone for a few and then turn it back on so WiFi-C can register to your WiFi. Keep the MicroCell powered off.

Depending on who you have as your ISP and whether you are using ISP-supplied equipment your WiFi may need some work if it's not reliable.

You can try getting a used one on eBay around 35 dollars seems to be the average price assuming that it is deactivated from a current account.  you can still activate it on yours and add numbers it takes awhile as the website page is not easy to find and you have to reload multiple times.

@Anastacia01 I responded to your other post so please keep your responses to that one. It makes it easier to follow. WiFi-C works just fine if you've set it up correctly and you have a robust WiFi connection at home.
