Streaming On Windows 10 Mobile Devices (Phones, Tablets)
SORRY, AT&T DIRECTV, BUT THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED!!! No disrespect is meant to the AT&T Employees who have provided replies to various community forum questions regarding streaming DIRECTV programming content on Windows 10 mobile devices (phones & tablets). Mr. or Ms. Employee, it is not fair that your company continues to discriminate against and ignore the streaming needs of DIRECTV customers who use Windows 10 phones & tablets -- all the while charging us Windows 10 mobile users the same full price for DIRECTV service packages as you charge Apple iOS, Android, and Kindle mobile users. This is completely inexcusable and discriminatory because DIRECTV has created streaming apps for the other mobile OS customers, but not for DIRECTV customers using Window 10 Mobile devices! It is hard to believe that DIRECTV app Developers do not understand that Windows 10 mobile devices use a different processor architecture than Windows PCs (Laptops & Desktops). This hardware difference is primarily the reason why DIRECTV's current video player app for Windows ("DirecTV_player.exe") WILL NOT WORK on Windows 10 phones & tablets. THE ONLY REASON DIRECTV's current video player app even works on Windows 10 Desktops and Laptops is because Windows 10 for PCs is backwards compatible to support the older ".exe" app format. And even then, DIRECTV's current Windows video player app only works with the older Internet Explorer 11 browser INSTEAD of the up-to-date Windows 10 Edge browser! With Windows 10, the up-to-date app format is the "Universal Windows Platform (UWP)", NOT the older ".exe" format. UWP apps work across Windows 10 devices, regardless of device architecture. It is unbelievable that DIRECTV STILL SUPPORTS the older, out-of-date ".exe" app format, BUT DOES NOT SUPPORT the up-to-date "Universal Windows Platform (UWP)" format for Windows 10. As other Community Forum members have already stated, DIRECTV needs to replace the current, outdated DIRECTV video player app with an updated UWP app that works across Windows 10 devices, whether the devices are Mobile phones/tablets, or PCs!
