Do no longer existing employees have to return direct TV equipment

I know I former employee who has direct TV equipment to do self installs and installs for others. Is that his property now or property of direct TV and who paid for it. Satellite dish, receptors for the dish, cable wire, cat 6 Ethernet and all the tools to install calibrate and check plus admitted having duplicate stuff taken from other terminated or employee who left.

That is iffy. If he was a sub-contractor, he may own all the tools, and possibly some cabling and other basic equipment. However, he would not be expected own any receiver/client boxes as those are leased. So if he is just using what he has left over that he owns to help out friends and family avoid the costs of a Directv tech visit, and they are not using boxes active on someone else's account but properly tied to their own account, then that would seem fine.


You would have to contact Directv 1-800-531-5000, or go to @ATTDIRECTVCare to send them a private message, about the process for reported suspected technician fraud.
