Directv does not support Military / Veterans
I asked and confirmed with customer service that Directv does not care to support our Nations Military or Veterans. I know most business do offer a Military and Veterns Discount. I saw the question unanswered on the forums. So, I got ahold of Diretv to ask directly. Sorry, the answer is no way.

I'm also a vet and no discounts for vets to me doesn't equate to a lack of support for veterans. Thank you for your service.

Directv does support Military. They have options to help prevent hardship if you are being deployed. They are also very accomedating to their employes who are also in the National Guard beyond just the law requirements.
What Directv does not do, is provide a category of people a discount that others do not get (Senior Citizen, Military, low-income). Your account gets whatever promotions you individualy qualify for. Military discounts are nice when available, but should not be expected from everyone, and certainly not solicitated.
So a business that chooses not to do a military discount does not mean they don't support military. Directv chooses not to give a group of people a discount that others cannot get so it is more equal accross the board, and certainly helps manage the financial side easier.

If a company goes above and beyond and gives a military discount, all the better for them. Some follow the priciple of giving accomendation for deployments, or a permanent change of station only, because they are tax payers. And with the different government and military programs, there is a lot of money that allready goes to current service members and/or veterans. We serve because we want to do something better for our country. Not to bully/guilt others into giving us a discount. Some of us actually decline an offered military discount, afterall that is not why we made the decisions we did.
Directv does support service members as I mentioned. They have even gone so far as to have job fairs specifically for veterens to help them with employment opportunities. There are many other ways to support veterans. I am in no way saying they shouldn't give a military discount. It would be nice if they did, but by no means are they required to give you a discount, and I do not see the honor in complaining that they should.

This is why the market is free and open. Everyone is entitled to pick a provider they feel meets their criteria.

No one is trolling anything. A valid point is being made. In fact going out of your way to say a company doesn't support veterans because they do not offer a discount is the very definition of bullying and smearing them because of that fact.
Television is the free market. If someone is unhappy with the lack of a discount for any said group, everyone has the choice to pick a provider that will fulfill that need. That's called the American way of enterprise and free market. Anyone who supports our nation would certainly agree with that.

To be clear, I support the action of giving military a discount. What I do not support, is the idea that companies should be required to so so, or only considered a "good" company if they gave the discount. In our free market, business are free to provide the services and promotions they choose. If you have a problem that there is a company that will not give you an extra discount, then you have the choice to go somewhere else.
