BBC America HD - C'mon already!

Just got back from visiting my mom in FL, where I had the pleasure of watching the Dr. Who Christmas episode premiere in HD on her Dish system. Glaring U-VERSE omission to (still!) not carry this HD channel. When will you catch up with the Joneses, AT&T? Why do you not even list it as a choice on your channel request page? Pathetic.
(Yes, mods, I know this is a peer to peer forum and an AT&T rep won’t answer. But it’s hosted on their website and they surely monitor it.)

I am dumbfounded by the lack of bbc america in HD. I asked about bbc america before I signed up, I didn't think I had to claify "in HD" It's 2013, I thought that was a given. If all of the standard deff channels dissapeared from uverse I would probably never find out. I had to use search to find bbc america, I didn't even think to look in the sub 1000 channels.
I don't watch a ton of TV, but Top Gear is a must have for me, I am very disappointed in not having it.
When people ask how do you like uverse, I say, "its great, but no top gear in HD". Since cars are my hobby that deters quite a few people from my friend base.

Channel lineups are not hidden, they are available online. If BBCA HD is that important you should have checked the lineup prior to switching.

The best way of appealing directly to AT&T (afterall, this is a customer to customer forum) is to 1) submit a channel request at this link or 20 send a private message to the escalation team at AT&T Customer Care, and someone will get in touch with you.
Good luck with that and please remember that 1) BBC may demand more than AT&T is willing to pay OR 2) it is possible that BBC America has a sweetheart deal to keep U-Verse from getting BBCAHD. Ya never know. AMC HD was only added a few years ago because of the latter.

This may have to do with a contract between AT&T U-verse and Discovery Communications, which distributes BBC America. I can only guess that perhaps it's a matter of timing. I would imagine that, if one made a Top 10 list of basic channels in need of being carried by AT&T U-verse in high definition, BBC America HD would be in the Top 5.
I know the removal in 2010 of Hallmark Channel [SD/HD] and Hallmark Movie Channel [SD/HD], as well as the 2011 removal of NHL Network [SD/HD], would be on the list as well.
Hopefully we can see AT&T U-verse come through and deliver.

U-versve has become a bargin basement type of service, especially whem it comes to programming. Putting in requests does no good. Switch to a service that gives you the important channels like BBCHD instead of holding your breath to get it from U. You'll be six foot under first.

Thanks for adding value to the discussion, Larry / Paul. How is Chicago?

I thought that U-verse was finally one of the big boys since they added MLB Network, which you were requesting some vehemently before you switched to Comcast.

Go back and troll your Comcast forums.
