Recording Options

Why does Uverse give us such ridiculous recording options.

Any day, around (?am/pm)

Anyday, anytime

Any day, Anytime, once per day

If you want to tape a show that is repeated during the week, for ex. Stossell on Fox.  is on thurs at 8pm.  But even if you pick the option any day, around 8pm, the show tapes every single time it's on.  Another ex.  when you choose first run only, if the show is on the weekend, it tapes it again.  Ex.  if you record Nancy Grace (new shows are only on during the week), uverse records it over the weekend on sat and sun which are repeats.   Why can't they have the same options as the vcr's gave us.  weekly, daily, weekends, etc.  I think we need better recording choices.

None of us here can answer that question.  Maybe the recording options will change when phase 3 of thdvr rolls out.  Maybe not.  Since I have had Uverse I have seen many major and minor changes which have improved the service drastically.  My only suggestion for you is to be patient if you can.  Because Uverse is one of the new providers on the block, their services are not up to speed with the already established providers.

Re: Recording Options

Agreed.  I used to have Directv and sadly had to give it up for Uverse (not by choice, neighborhood switched and we're all wired for only Uverse now).  The recording options on the Dtv DVR were SO much better.  If you're listening AT&T, here's the features I'd like and I'm sure I'm not the only one:

  1. An option to change both the ending and start time of a program by a minute or 2 (instead of just the end time in 5 min increments).  My local news always seems to start about a minute early, and I miss the lead story EVERY night!
  2. And speaking of the local news, I don't always get a chance to watch it and before I know it there are 10, 20, etc nightly news episodes.........I'd like the option of "keep the 3 most recent (or "x" most recent) episodes of a show, anything older it deletes it automatically.
  3. How about an option to delete the entire group of a particular recorded show...........ie: I've been recording King Of the Hill, and I have 140 odd episodes.  There's NO way I'm going to sit there and individually delete all 140 episodes, yet that's my only choice if I want to get rid of them all.
  4. Ability to change series recording options such as "keep until I erase" without having to delete the series recording and set it up all over again.

There's probably more, but those are the ones off the top of my head right now that have been driving me crazy since I got Uverse.

Also, totally unrelated but if you actually read this, GET THE TENNIS CHANNEL.  I'm missing the French Open right now because you can't seem to come to some terms!!!

  2. 4. Ability to change series recording options such as "keep until I erase" without having to delete the series recording and set it up all over again.  May be addressed with this new update.  We shall see.

  2. 4. Ability to change series recording options such as "keep until I erase" without having to delete the series recording and set it up all over again.  They used to have that.  At least I used to change that setting in the single recording settings.

Re: Recording Options

The "keep until I erase" feature.

Is there a way to keep that option as the default???

It's so time consuming to go through every recording and change the option.

Not at this time.
