Your comparison is beyond silly, so I'll simplify it.

 

If I thougt that the absence of weather on the 8's on my TV service was a matter of life or property (as has been claimed here), I would do whatever I needed to do to protect my family and my home.  If that meant buying a modern weather radio or seeking out local weather alerts from another source, I would do it in a heartbeat.

 

You can watch the weather radar live and uninterrupted online if it is that important. Look at the NWS website for Houston.  It will carry more up-to-date information for your area than the WOT8's will ever carry.

 

 

If WOT8's is a service that you require and they don't provide it, then you have a decision to make. 

 

Trivializing your needs by comparing it to sports programming doesn't help your case.
