Slingbox Pro HD & Cisco ISB7005 Wireless Receiver
[ Edited ]

Has anyone successfully hooked their slingbox up to this new wireless receiver?  I'm skeptical about a wireless reciever to begin with but I would like to know if anyone has had success with it?  It doesn't appear that slingbox has a remote for it yet either.

If you are in the same situation please go to slingbox site here and vote up my "idea" request to add this receiver's remote to slingbox.

Re: Slingbox Pro HD & Cisco ISB7005 Wireless Receiver
mojoe316 - Are you saying the model number of the wireless STB is not on the list of supported IR codes for the Slingbox IR blaster?

Since the same remote is used for all the u-verse equipment, you can use the code for any of the u-verse boxes model numbers & it will work the same.

I saw a list of supported devices for an IR blaster for a computer. One of the selections was att.

So, only one selection is needed for u-verse, but if model numbers are used, then it is any one of many.

Re: Slingbox Pro HD & Cisco ISB7005 Wireless Receiver

aviewer,

Thanks for your note.  I'm not at my slingbox locaiton currently so I cannot search the available remotes there until this weekend.  I did however search the forums and slingbox site and found that there were STB/DVR devices for at&t uverse motorola vip1200 and vip1216.  These are the standard STB and DVR.  I didnt see this new wireless cisco STB so I assumed it wasnt there and wouldnt work.

Is it true that i can use any at&t uverse remote and it will work?  So presumingly I can select one of the motorola boxes and it will work?  I guess all I can do is try.

What's your thoughts on using the slingbox with this wireless receiver?

Thanks.

My thoughts? - Wireless STB is designed for applications where wiring is problematic. Otherwise, same old, same old. - All the U-verse STBs work fine with slingbox - based on posts, not personal experience.

Have faith - the existing xodes will work.

Re: Slingbox Pro HD & Cisco ISB7005 Wireless Receiver

aviewer - I know, wireless was not my first choice.  I had to rely on my father to make the order and he got talked into the wireless receiver for sake of ease and cost.  I'm trying to make do.  Do you know if the wireless receiver can be "hard lined" instead?  Does or would it work to simply run an ethernet cable from the residential gateway router to this receiver?

As a slingbox user for years, and if you are as well, you must know it can be tempermental, just look at the forums.  And when you live an ocean away from your slingbox it is literally impossible to configure it once you are gone.  I have faith, just trying to cover my bases in advance.  Sounds like it should be okay.

Thanks again!

Based on posts, I believe it can be hard wired. You can verify & post what you find. I am sure an IR interface/blaster is not the ideal, but it beats none at all by a million miles.

Re: Slingbox Pro HD & Cisco ISB7005 Wireless Receiver

In case anyone was wondering, my SlingBox Pro HD works great with the Cisco Wireless STB.  I have it set up with HDMI going from the STB to the TV and then component out to the SlingBox.  I didn't even have to change remotes on the settings on my laptop, iPhone 4S and iPad 3.  All work as they should with no issues :manhappy:

To answer a previous question asked, the 7005 can be hard wired by ethernet only. No coax for them.
