Re: MTU change after 1/21 outage

After 4 hours of messing with IP's, DNS, TCP, UPD, STUPID, and any other acronym, I finally found this forum. Yay me.
Yep same here. Spent a lot of time trying to fix it myself...
Central NC here. Had the lovely outage in the very early morning (4am) of the 22nd. Checked internet on my cellphone when I woke up later that morning and internet was fine. Tried my Xbox about 5:30pm when I got home from work and had the same problem: MTU error.
I spent several hours playing with my modem and router to discover nothing was working. Even called my own personal tech support (my brother) and still nothing.
If there is one thing I cannot STAND doing. It is calling any kind of tech support. I called AT&T. I was persistently told I needed to upgrade to the $15/month for the "Advanced Technical Support" and they should be able to help. Oh really? Okay. So I played along and signed up..
No more than FIVE MINUTES was I on the phone with the "Advanced Help" that they told me I needed to call Microsoft because there is nothing wrong with the connection. it must be my Xbox. They gave me a phone number and sent me on my merry way.
Called Microsoft and finally had someone that I could understand and was very friendly. He (at Microsoft) explained what was going on with AT&T (which I love that he told me this but AT&T could not) and said it should be resolved by this afternoon (today).
Called AT&T back and made sure they cancelled that "Advanced Tech" hoopla without any early termination fee ($120, mind you.)
Still waiting patiently on my Xbox to magically connect when I turn it back on.. Oh happy day that will be.
For now, Black Ops 2 campaign mode. Again. Good luck everyone.
