perhaps thats where my problem lies. I have turned of dns on the nvg which the ip setting for that are
broadband ip 108.xxx.178.xxx
gateway ip 108.xxx.179.xxx
lan ip is 192.168.1.254
it is still showing the dns server ips as atts
I had changed the linksys to static ip
internet ip was changed to 108.xxx.178.xxx
subnet mask 255.255.0.0
gateway ip i changed to 108.xxx.179.xxx
then the dns servers I changed to the fastest ones i could find.
so should I change the gateway ip on the linksys to 192.168.1.254? I think that is what you were trying to say. Again thanks for the help I appreciate it.
OK, first off, the gateway IP should be set to 192.168.1.254 (the internal IP of teh nvg510), no matter which device is providing the DHCP. Second, I don't see what you set the Linksys internal IP address to. It should be something in the 192.168.1.* range so that it is routable across your home LAN (and so that the default Linksys IP settings "fit" your network). The Internet IP on the Linksys doesn't matter, since there should not be any cables connected there, and no traffic there.
