Using static wireless IP with 2Wire gateway

After installation, I changed my 2Wire gateway to use the same SSID and password as my previous router. All of my wireless devices that use DHCP were immediately able to connect to the network, so I'm sure that there are no problems getting onto the wireless network.
The one problem is with a D-Link print server that is required to use a static IP. It is currently set to 192.168.1.10, which is outside the DHCP assignment range of 64 - 253, and which worked with the old router that had a similar DHCP config. So why doesn't the gateway recognize this as a valid IP? Does it only recognize DHCP assigments, or should I reassign an IP in the 64-253 range?
If it has to be the latter, I guess it would be best to assign one at the high end of the range since DHCP assigns them from the bottom of the range up.

I had this same problem while trying to set up some camera's. For the life of me I could not get the RG to see anything below the DHCP range of 64~253. From reading on this forum one of the resident experts here said they are usable as static IP's but I couldn't make it happen.
I just set my camera's to IP's starting at .100 and went up from there. The IP addresses have never changed in two years so I don't think you will have anything to worry about. I believe once the RG hands out the IP address and registers the MAC address of the device it keeps those two married.

Yep that's what I was trying to set up was wireless camera's. I don't think wireless will work with an IP below .64. The RG won't see it. Maybe hard wired yes, wireless no.
