Unlocked Blackberry from India on AT&T Blackberry Plan

Hi,

I am carrying an unlocked BB Curve 9320 from India to the US. Following are some of the questions I had.

1) Will my BB work on the AT&T BB Plan. I will also need BIS.

2) If yes, can I just purchase a sim card and plan, put it on my device and start using it right away?

3) From other threads, I understand that AT&T prepaid plans will not support BB data (BIS). Is this understanding still correct or has there been any recent changes?

4) Considering that I already have a phone, I assume I can go for a plan without any long term committment. Is this understanding correct?

FYI - My device supports 3G bands 1,2,5,6

Apologies if some of these questions are too basic. I am very new to the US mobile phone scene and things work a lot different here in India.

Thanks !

It should work except that prepaid account does not support BB. I think it's the BB data that's not supported.

It appears that the frequency bands are supported at 850 and 1900.

Good luck.

Thanks for the confirmation !

And yes, it seems ATT does not have a BB plan for prepaid. But is it possible to get a monthly postpaid plan if I have a device of my own? Or will ATT insist on buying the device from their store?

You're welcome :-)

You will not have to buy a phone. You can buy a SIM only and get set up for a monthly postpaid account without a contract nor commitment.
