Re: need a new phone - have an old sim card

if i walk in to an at&t store, i expect that all the shiny new phones are going to be locked to at&t.  will these phones still accept my cingular sim, or will i have to replace that as well?  this wouldn't normally be a big deal, but when they switched me from old at&t wireless to cingular, it took way too long, and the rep finally ended up having to call a store back home to get them to do it over the phone (different / incompatible system or something).  i no longer live back home, but too many people know me at this number, and i don't want to give it up.

also, i'm leaning toward one of the android phones, but if i go that route, am i going to be stuck w/ voice and sms only, or is that limitation specific to just iphones?

thanks.

Unlike old AT&T Wireless, Cingular & current AT&T is the same thing as far as locking is concerned, the Cingular SIM will work in all current phones. Also, as far as I know the data services should work just fine with an android phone. Finally, you may be able to get just a new SIM at a corporate store without having to change the plan.
