FaceTime doesn't use much bandwidth. Even with the iPhone5 and iPad 4 with their HD FaceTime camera don't eat much bandwidth. But they do use considerably more than a typical voice call. And with all the AT&T iPhone/iPad users they feared it might degrade the network.
For everyone with the original unlimited plan, why do you keep it? I had one, but switched to the 4GB tethered plan years ago because I maybe used at most a few hundred MB a month. Email and web pages don't use much. And with tethering, it allowed me to use my other iDevice for FaceTime over the cellular network.
because it is a lot more economical to keep it and don;t care about facetime, nor hotspot, nor tethering. I use Jabber for conferences and person to person because it is better them facetime and does not limit me to Apple users only
