MAJOR CONNECTIVI TY ISSUES

I have had At&t DSL service since May of 2012, in that time I have spent countless hours on the phone with att tech support and replaced one modem a month after I started the service. I use a Netgear 7550 that was provided by att at a cost of $100 that would be great if it worked properly but since I am working on my second replacement I think it should be offered free of charge....
Anyways my issue is that the modem resets itself countless times in a day, it averages 5 to 6 resets in an hour on a pretty daily basis. No one Agent I have spoken to can seem to tell me what the problem is each one that I talk with thinks it is a different problem. I spoke to an agent today that had me do a HARD RESET on my modem and as I was doing this he told me that my modem must be malfunctioning becuase it was telling him it was still synced....... IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME..... its bad enough I live in an area that my top accessable speed is 5mbps all I want is reliable service.... Please If you think you can help me I am pretty tech savy so just tell me what you need and I will get it to you or I will try it....
