Well thanks for trying thm out sadly looks like they didn't work for you. This really is something AT&T needs to address. Using an email clint with a att.net email address that you pay for should not be this hard were you hav eto find work arounds.

Hi all;
I Just spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with ATT customer support (the number that was posted previously). Spoke with the first level, then I asked to be transfered to a supervisor. The supervisor sent me to the ATT Technical support group (fee based) but she waived the cost. Tech support ended up telling me to login into my ATT account through the web browser. This would "Sync up” the user name and password on their internal servers which would then allow outlook to work. (Same advice someone else posted earlier). He said this would only need to be done when the problem occurred.
They were very helpful and courteous throughout the entire time. Bottom line, there seems to be a issue on ATT’s side and they can't or won't fix it.
One thing has been added to their website help page:
"AT&T's POP/SMTP settings have changed to inbound.att.net and outbound.att.net, but if you are using the old server settings (pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com), they will continue to work. You do not have to change them at this time."
Also, don't forget to set your POP3 port to 995 and your SMTP port to 465, and check the "This server requires an encrypted connection" check box.
Hope this helps.

@johntassi
That pretty much sums it up. Logging in to the web based client "removes the soft lock" whatever that is.
The key thing at this point is not to change the settings over and over if it's been working previously.

Update. Not only is it STILL not working (after logging in thru webmail, confirming settings, etc.) I was recently traveling and when I was using a wifi (airport!) it worked without a hitch! No changes on my end, I didn't even plan it - just opened outlook and boom - about 100 emails just poured in. Now back home, and nope, not working. To say this is making me crazy is an understatement. I'm making my very, very last call to ATT today and if that doesn't work, I'm going to change services.

Had the same problem with Outlook not responding. My status was "active", but I completed some security questions and updated my profile and voila, Outlook is working again. Fingers crossed that this continues to work.
Maybe AT&T is using this block as a method to identify users who no longer have active AT&T telephone/dsl accounts, but still have active email accounts. I could see a business case for saying that we'll continue to support email for non-subscribers if they look at our webmail pages, but no free email if they use Outlook to bypass our advertising. If so, their customer support folks should have been in the loop and those with active telephone/dsl accounts should have been spared the headache.

This actually DID finally work!! Occassionally it asks me for my PW, but the that's it, I get all the email. I still HATE them and will likely change servers, but keep my old Bellsouth.net account for webmail.

The att.yahoo.com email server has quit connecting to my Outlook 2010. It it might work in the morning and it doesn't matter if I leave the computer on all nite or start up fresh. Today my IPhone would not connect. I can sign in thru ATT.net. and get my emails. The message I get is that my user name and password are incorrect for POP & SMTP?

way to go att, this i now all over the internet. when you call "support" they tell you basically that they dont support outlook for example and can only give you the settings for setting it up. which used to work until att made some "changes" to their servers recently. now , even though you enter the settings correctly, the enter network password comes up .
their workaround is to "login into webmail for a few minutes" to "re-sync". then the email client wil work again for a while.
the workaround im doing is to setup a gmail account and forward all att.net email to it and then setup the gmail account in outlook. shouldnt have to do that , but until att fixes this problem it will have to do.

I had the same problem. My wifes account was locked out of outlook and her Iphone. By logging into yahoo.com to get her emails. not att.net, I was then able to get into her mail using her Iphone and Outlook. Att wouldn't talk to me without out paying for connectnet. There support is awful.

I've tried using the ATT outgoing server and no go.
Can someone please help? I'm paying for Tech Support 360 and spent countless hours with guys who don't help.

I have tried everything....Did anyone figure this out?
I use Go-Daddy email and want to use Outlook 2010. I have Tech 360 and 8 hours later...no help. They want me to keep ATT for my business account? I can't even get email to work on Uverse. Such a joke.
Port 25 is open. (so they say)
I can receive but not send. I have tried the ATT outbound server an nothing. I've tried re-installing and nothing. Any help??

I also want to mention that I have to cycle the power on my router in order to get other devices to work sometimes. I can't get onto my Go-Daddy email from my laptop unless I plug into the router via wired. I took down my FW's and still didn't work. Tech 360 actually told me it was a Firewall issue in my router.....I don't have a fire wall in my router.

I dled the att uverse app to an ipad.Setup wanted me to log into att, I could not. I requested a temp password, got in, made a new password. Then, of course, outlook failed, so I went in and changed the password...still not fuctional.
First chat supported wanted me to call the 866 number and pay for support - they already get $198 per month
I dled ATT's little "auto fix it program", it changed the servers from:
Incoming - pop.att.yahoo.com
Outgoing - smtp.att.yahoo.com
TO:
Incoming - inbound.att.net
Outgoing - outbound.att.net
Still did not work.
Went to chat through ATT UVERSE versus ATT.
This person had me close out all browser windows other than the chat
Close Outlook
Open a browser and log back into webmail
Open Outlook
It worked (I have seen this elsewhere in this lengthy thread).
Here is what the tech person said:
mv459c(MUTHUKUMAR)
This issues happens after password reset because the mail client is not in sync with your webmail
mv459c(MUTHUKUMAR)
By clicking on the "Member Center" we synchronize the client mail account with your webmail account.
mv459c(MUTHUKUMAR)
This has to done every time when the password is reset.
So, I have kept the new incoming and outgoing servers set per ATT, I will see if this impacts the sbcglobal mailbox I can access via yahoo.
