Cancelled landline and upgraded DSL

So I called in to cancel the landline and upgrade the existing DSL. After about 20 minutes on the phone the gentleman told me I should see the increase in speed in about 15 minutes and that a technician will have to come out to my location to disconnect the landline. Of course my speed did not increase in 15 min or two days later. I call back and now they tell me a technician has to come out and disconnect the landline, the internet and then reconnect the internet for the upgrade to kick in. Does that make sense?

Without knowing how your lines are set up, it's possible that they need to rework the lines.
I'm sorry that you weren't given the right information the first time you called though.
