Is it the Twilight Zone --- or AT&T???

I recently changed from my regular family plan to mobile share. First, the rep I spoke with to facilitate the change did NOT mention that it would not be in effect until the next billing cycle. He only mentioned that I should wait to add my iPads until the beginning of the new cycle. Not a huge deal, since I didn't go over my data allowance, but still. When I call and say that I want to switch to a differnent plan, I kinda mean NOW --- if there is a reason to wait, please explain, I'm receptible to reason.

So the new billing cycle started yesterday, and today, I call to add my iPads. After spending several minutes on hold, I was transferred to some business department where the recording informed me that they are closed on weekends. Really? Eventually I got connected to someone who told me that while I could not add the pads over the phone on the weekend, I could do so in a store or online. I'm not going anywhere any more today, so I went online to 'add a line' like I had been advised to do. That link first took me to a store where I could buy a new iPad - thanks, I already have one --- and after a couple more tries, I just ended up on an error page. so much fun on a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

So I called again, spent more time on hold, and it turns out, whomever I ended up with this time, would be able to add my pads over the phone on Saturday.......BUT since the sim cards had previoulsy been used to add 3G service, now they are locked, and I will have to take the iPads to a store after all.

And did I forget to mention that they want to charge me $35 per pad activation fee? That info didn't show up anywhere that I noticed when I did the calculation on what would be my better option. And they need a credit check? Really? I have been an AT&T customer for about 18 months, 4 phones on the line, bills are auto-pay so never late, and now they want to run a  credit check because I'm adding $20 worth of service?

Are you serious, AT&T?

I'm sorry to hear that your switch to the Mobile Share plan wasn't smooth.

It sounds like we didn't do a good job of explaining the process and didn't ensure you were fully aware of the activation fees.

Are you squared away now or is there a current issue that we need to get resolved?
