Re: Wireless connection
Does the service get any better the closer you are to the outside of the dwelling, Also do you have a external antenna for the aircard?.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12.  You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF.  Policy info HERE.

I don't have an antenna.....it's a USB connection to my computer. I think I'm going to look into satellite service. AT&T has really disappointed me on service...:smileysad:

Re: Wireless connection

You might try the Elevate 4G Hotspot, you can run up to 5 devices at once, get a wify card for you pc.  You can move it around the house to get the best signal, my unit works best by the front window.  The have antennas you can buy to improve service.  If you have a data hotspot service with AT&T, buy an unlocked Elevate 4G from Amazon and use with you SIM card from unit you have.

Re: Wireless connection

AT&T can't guarantee service in your home. No carrier can. There are just too many variables, including construction materials and the surrounding terrain.

As HiCap suggests, an external device like the Elevate 4G might be an option. Also, the USB device you have may have an antenna port that you can get an external antenna for.

Re: Wireless connection

I have the Elevate 4G and have the same issue.  My internet will be fine, then it will show "local access only" and the internet is gone.  The Elevate box still shows connected to outside.  I have to turn it off and back on.  Sometimes it will show something like 53% complete as it is shutting down.  Makes me wonder if it is trying to download a huge upgrade file and it pushes everything else to the side.  But the elevate box never shows a lose of connection to the outside.

The Elevate firmware was updated a few months ago. If yours hasn't been updated that may be what you're seeing. If tapping the power button scrolls through different screens, you have the update.
