Apple Time Capsule not seen @ DHCP -- can not DMZ time capsule
[ Edited ]01-21-2013 10:13:15 AM - edited 01-21-2013 10:19:59 AM
2wire 3801HGV
This is worked for me for 2 years and then stopped...
Time capsule is set to connect using DHCP but 2wire sees it as static and I can not DMZ the time capsule
I created a pinhole in 2wire for the time capsule in DMZplus mode but I continue to get this message
Errors The selected device has a static IP address. DMZplus requires that the selected device use DHCP to obtain its IP address.
Also in Device details in 2wire in shows static

And even then, I do not suggest, unless you have a hardened password on the TC. See http://www.jaywalk.net/blog/?p=1624 It is the best guide in setting up the TC with UVerse.
"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

Exactly how I have it and yet
This continues to stop my progress

In Airport Utility go over to network and look at router mode and make sure it is off (bridge mode).

Ok, so I'm not going crazy. My Apple Time Capsule began sufferring from the same problem today.
I've had my Time Capsule on the DMZ since I got uVerse over a year ago. But today, it started complaining that it was encountering a Double NAT condition. I checked the 2wire RG and noticed the Time Capsult was no longer listed in the DMZ.
Unfortunately, when I try to move it back to the DMZ, the 2wire RG refuses because it claims the Time Capsule is using a static IP. But it's not! As you can see below, I have the Time Capsule set to receive it's IP address using DHCP.

This is what I think we did-- give it a try and see what happens.
(I also changed the name of TimeCapsule to TC2 but dont think this was the fix)
I set the Connect Using > Bridge
Then 2wire saw it as non static. I set the DMZ.
Then went back into TC and set it back to DHCP.
The pinholes that are now in TC work.

Ok I misunderstood do not put the TC in bridge mode if you want the router in DMZ.
