Last Ditch Effort

I'm posting here as what I figure is a last ditch effort to get some help and at the same time help AT&T from losing a customer. Recently on a trip my AT&T iPhone 4 stopped working and after trying everything I could find on the web to fix it I took it to the AT&T store where I purchased iPhones for me and my wife. While the warranty has expired, the consultant at the store informed me that he could replace the phone for $0.99 as long as we sign up for an additional 2 years. He further indicated that we could upgrade for pretty good prices again with the same contract extension caveat.
The problem is we have little to no cell phone signal in our home (nor here at my desk at the office for that matter). I have been trying for over a year to get a Microcell from AT&T to no avail. While the consultant couldn't help me with that he suggested I stop by the corporate store and see what they would do. I had not talked face to face with anyone and...

thought that finally this might be the solution to our dilemma and be win-win for both.
All I asked to do was to try the equipment, although even if it worked I do not feel I should have to pay for acceptable service I am already paying upward of $180 per month for. Our contract is up in December and without an improvement in our signal, we are going to have to go with another carrier.
Having explained this to Brandon from Augusta in the Savannah store for some reason I was then given excuse after excuse regarding the government and regulations and tower restrictions. Then he tries to sell me a Microcell and I tell him again that I am not going to pay more for something that is not working at the rate I am already paying.
My point to him and AT&T is simply this: For barely more than what I am paying monthly, AT&T is willing to risk losing $2160 per year and any chance that we would ever recommend them in the least. At this point I am down an iPhone for the remaining 3 months of my contract and disgusted with AT&T and feel owed a great deal from them for the loyalty we've showed despite their shortcomings here in Savannah, GA.
To make up for my disappointment, Brandon held the door open for me as I walked out, so I guess he was able to sleep well last night having offered at least that. Seriously?
