Transfer cell phone from business account to personal account
[ Edited ]

My cell phone {Personal content removed for your safety} is for a business account.  My wife's cell phone is associated to the service plan as well.

We have been told that we will have to change our phone numbers to change to a personal plan.  Is that true?

If so, is there a way to have a temporary forwarding service from our current phone numbers to the new phone number?

That would be correct if her line has a different area code. The billing system will not allow mutliple area codes on the same account, if the area codes fall in different billing markets, unless the account is listed as a business account or "nbi" account.

I have a similar question.  My employer (an at&T customer) took over my phone number and then released it to my step-father so that I could be added to the family plan.  I am being told that because it was previously held by a business that I cannot be added to my families personal family plan.  Can you please help explain this to me?  I was told i would need to get a new phone number, mind you i have had this phone number for 15 years and we are all within the same area code.
