Please don't change your data plans just to "keep up with Verizon"

Dear AT&T
I'll make this short and sweet.
Individuals with Individual SmartPhone plans on Verizon are going to bear the biggest brunt of the new costs that they recently announced. I am quite sure you pay attention to the market response to their recent announcment and I'm sure you've seen a lot of angry customers of theirs (you might even start getting their customers now because of this).
The bottom line is this; while I can understand that wireless costs can go up; I don't think its fair that the Individual single-phone account holders must now bear all the responsibilty while the heavy-family-plan users are getting a huge break. This is extremely lop-sided and ridiculous.
There are news reports that you might be "Soon-to-follow" this oppressive new billing scheme. I will not continue my contract this upcoming year if I will be required to participate in this.

I have been with AT&T since 1999. I never had a complaint with AT&T till the last year or so. As a teenager at the time when 3G was cool, I used to have unlimited internet on my phone for $25 dollars. Now I pay $15 a month for 200mb and I would never pay $25 for 2GB when I used get unlimited for that price. One App is roughly almost 10mb; I can go through 200mb in a few hours. Instead, I need to constantly be checking to make sure I don’t use up too much data and go over my limit so AT&T doesn’t charge me an additional $15. When I upgraded my phone to HTC inspire, I had no option but to get 4G… and when I transferred they would not let me get unlimited internet anymore. At the time, the excuse they gave me was "according to their statistics, people who have unlimited internet are not using enough Data!” I told them "I do" and I still want to have unlimited internet. In the end I settled for their trap. They waived my early upgrade fee just so I can get upgraded to a 4G phone and lose my unlimited data. Now I’m trying to get an early upgrade and they won't let me! I want to get the iPhone but they won’t let me get unlimited Data. I told them I have a "grandfather plan" and I explained that since I still have the old plan, I should be able to still get unlimited data. They told me I couldn't because my MOM still has unlimited but I don’t. Even though we are on the same PLAN, the only difference is our data. I told the lady to charge me, and that I would be willing to pay for it; even then they refused to do it. The excuse they give people now a days for not allowing them to get unlimited data is because poor little AT&T is losing money. Do you honestly expect anyone to believe that? I was going to cancel, but they wanted $250 dollars. I’m going to have to wait another 4 months or so.
It’s just my mom and me on the plan, and our cellphone bill is $196.45 (not including all the other BullS charges).
Sprint offers unlimited data/messaging/mobile to mobile for $79.99 + tax for one person! I would imagine my mom and I would be about $150-160… and I get my UNLIMITED DATA!
As for AT&T Internet, it's a joke! I pay $37.65 a month for 5MB download and only get 1.4-1.5mb.
With Comcast, I can get 15MB for a cheaper price. Since I’m leaving both, I might as well get rid of home phone too.
Bundle package is a load of BullS and doesn't save you any money. Ask your neighbors and compare your bill statements.

The only plans that were grandfathered were the unlimited smartphone plans. Any other plans, including the MediaMax/MediaNet plans, weren't counted when they allowed people to retain their unlimited plans. If you didn't have an unlimited smartphone data plan on your line when they retired the plan, you can't get it now, regardless of how long you've had the plan. Remember, data is a feature add-on, not an integral part of your plan.

Not sure of what plan you have with ATT. I currently have the 700 anytime with rollover, unlimited texts, and 2GB per phone. Before taxes my bill for 2 lines is $150.
I had Sprint for almost 7 years. You should ensure that you read up on their forums before thinking about switch. Read up on the sprintusers.com forum and the android forum. Yes Sprint has on network "unlimited'. But what is the point of unlimited when they give it to you at dial up speeds? And if you think ATT has poor customer service....the Sprint CSR's will give you an ulcer dealing with them.
Also Spint will be $150 for 2 lines before taxes. They charge very high "surcharge" fees. After taxes and fees I was paying about $170 a month. And this does not include the insurance for a phone which is also increased to $11 a month with a $200 dollar deductible.
Go ahead a switch to Sprint. You have been warned. When you are unhappy with them atleast you cant say someone didnt warn you. I think Sprint will be bankrupt by the end of the year. And good ridance.
