Horrible customer Service

I was unsure about the cable and internet service that would be provided by AT&T U-verse but not anymore. The technician came in and installed most of the equipment. Half way through he informed me that the service is not on and he has to go and come back and that he will return with another technician that can assist him with completing the installation. There was some furniture that was moved around, empty boxes that he opened, and wrappers for the remote control, and the little ties that you twist to keep the wires in place all left on my living room for and in my bedroom where service was to be set up. Before he left I asked what he was going to do with these boxes as a hint that you need not leave this stuff here. He replies you can keep them as if it was a gift and he was doing me a favor. About an hour had passed after the technician left to get his co- worker and I decided to call to see where he was at. He replied that he was just about to call me back, and he wanted me to check to see if the service had returned. I checked and the two green lights that he asked me to check for where there all lit. He then tells me that I can go ahead and finish the installation and it will be faster than him coming back out to do it.??????? Isn’t that his job? Frustrated with the whole process I did as he asked, but did not get any results. He then stated that he is on his way back to finish the job. Five minutes passed and he called back to says that there is still an outage in the area and that I will have to call the support number to schedule for someone else to come out. REALLY!!!! I am not sure how the cable service works but I had internet service when he called and it is my understanding that if there is an outage with the cable service that there should be an outage for internet. I guess happy hour was more fun than completing the job after all it is Friday. HE LEFT HIS TRASH AND DID COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION. I never had problems such as this with time warner. They never asked me to complete and installation nor have they left their trash. I proceeded to call the AT&T U-verse support line to request that a competent individual return and complete the job and they were unable to find someone that could return and finish the job today. I requested that some come and pick up the equipment because I am no longer interested in their service. The representative informed me that I will need to call to disconnect the service. Should I not be the one receiving the call after such horrible service?
When I inquired about the service I was told that there would be no start up fees or disconnect fees if I was ever unhappy with services. I was ensured by the rep that they have great service and they did not have service interruptions. When I called the support line to complain about the service I received I inquired about what I had gotten myself into and to verify what the customer service rep that sold me my pack had said. I then was informed that I will be locked into a one year contract after the first 30 days and that if I decide to cancel the contract that I will have to pay a fee of about $180.00.
