I don't have a fix for you, but I thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one experiencing this issue...I have the EXACT same issue on both of my iphone 5's, and I know several coworkers that have the same problem...I have to reset my phone anywhere from 1-5 times every day when this happens. Sometimes toggling airplane mode works, sometimes not. I have friends that have gone to Apple about this, and they gave the standard troubleshooting advice...reset network settings, restore the phone and set up as new, not from backup, swap SIM cards, and finally, replace the phone. Even after replacement the issue has persisted, so I think it's either a hardware problem with all of them, or a problem with AT&T's LTE... I'd be interested to see if you find a solution..please let me know.

Hate to keep posting the same thing but there are several threads describing the same problem.
EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
Live in Oklahomna City. Just random out and about, look down at phone and have LTE signal with 4 or 5 bars. No internet access. Can't check email. Nothing using data works. Go into settings, general, cellular turn LTE off. Signal switches to 4G after 10-15 secs. Flip LTE swtich back on. 10-15 secs later LTE signal and all data works fine.
This is getting really annoying. Happens at least 10 times a day. Same deal with daughter's phone and a buddy down the street.
Where does everyone live?

How odd. I don't seem to be experiencing these issues on my iPhone. It could be network issues within a specific area, then again. It could be anything as well. Have you tried turning off LTE and using Safari, Chrome etc.? It could LTE issues itself but if you can't access the Internet on HSPA+ then I would definitely call in to Customer Care to see if there's known issues around the area.
In addition, you have been with the device for 14 days or less, you can also get a replacement, as maybe the device could be defective as well.

I'm having the same issue, in Austin, TX. The problem just started in the last week or two. Putting phone into airplane mode for a few seconds restores the connection, which leads me to believe this is an issue with the hardware, not the network. But I'm curious as to where people are that are having this issue. If it doesn't resolve, I'll be opening a support issue with Apple.

FWIW, bee having same as well. Only started within past 2 months, not an old issue. Wife's iPhone 4 seems fine. Noticed when she claimed to call me, would go straight to voicemail, with phone sitting right next to me. Noticed full bars, ATT but on home wifi, so hadn't noticed LTE or not. Restart phone to find a flood of text messages coming through. Called ATT, tech claimed to know what's going on, and "refreshed my account". Seemed fine for a week, then same thing. Called again, and same "refresh account' thing. Also called Apple and have case ID on issue. Today, same, and went to ATT store and swapped SIM card. We shall see from here. Sorry for rant, but wanted to describe my issue on this as well. On a note, from Chicago area, and when I called on both above occasions, noted message saying "if calling from Chicago area, may experience longer than normal wait times." Techs claim no known issue in area or work being performed. Thoughts?

Would love to get this figured out.
Swapped SIM cards about 9 days ago. Still having problem.
Called ATT middle of last week and talked to technical support rep. Just like you she seemed to imply that this was a known issue and a hardware issue. She did the refresh my account also. Been a week and haven't had the problem since then. From your post I kinda expect it to recur soon!

What I find kinda funny is that there is another "problem with LTE" thread (slightly different but still involves LTE intermittently not working correctly) in which some of the posts are quick to dismiss the possibility that it has anything to do with AT&T and that odds are it might be more a phone hardware issue, simply because some folks claim that it has not happened to them and to any of their friends/family. Shoot, guess they (AT&T vs. Apple) cancel each other out, therefore leaving the possibility that it must be an end-user issue--LOL!!!
