Need to sell my new Iphone 5
I just bought a new iphone 5 yesterday and found out that I am getting a new one from work as well. I do not need the personal one I just bought and have not activated it yet. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to sell it - should I activate it first at an ATT store? How do I then activate my old 4S back? I do not want to sell it to anyone who might not be able to use it so I need to make sure I am doing this correctly. Any advice?

Your best bet is to return it to where you bought it from so you don't incur any charges for it, but if you want to sell it as long as the buyer is on AT&T you don't have to do anything with it, but if the buyer is on another carrier then either you or them will have to get it unlocked from somewhere other than AT&T, AT&T has strict guidelines for unlocking a iPhone.

AT&T's return policy has changed effective 10/07/12.  You have 14 days to return the device & cxl without a ETF.  Policy info HERE.

Why not just return it and get your money back? And AT&T can activate your 4s again. If it has been opened, you will have to pay a $35 restock fee.

Re: Need to sell my new Iphone 5

I am assuming you signed a contract to get your iphone 5 at a discount price, unless you bought it at the non commitment price the phone is still ATT's phone kinda like a lease until the contract is fulfilled or canceled and paid in full.

There is buyers remore that can get you out of the woods so to speak but you gotta act fast, as for activating your old phone they will charge you 36 bucks for that atleast plus any restocking fees on the iphone 5.

So the answer is no you can not sell the phone to someone because it would not work for them, if its unlocked that is another story
