I seem to be just as confused as everyone else out there... I pre-ordered my phone at 3:29 EST on 9/14 and got a confirmation email that said my phone would be delivered "on 9/21/12."   However, I have yet to receive any email with a tracking number for shipping or a correspondence to say that the phone is delayed.  

 

Given that I am very close to being out of contract I have to say that this lack of communication is troublesome.  I have been with Cingular and then AT&T for nearly 10 years and can honestly say that I miss the good old Cingular days.

I am New to ATT and created a new account while at the same time  I pre ordereing around 5PST last friday but am currently back ordered. This is a problem becuase I have a broken sprint phone that im paying for that I cant really use and I need a phone bad. Does anyone know if I can go to  the  apple or ATT store and  buy one there if there are supplies and have my current order cancelled? 

If you ordered from AT&T and you have successfully cancelled it then you are set. I would still go to an AT&T store just to be safe but you should not encounter any problems I would think.

I actually hadnt cancelled yet. I have just gotten back to town on business and hadnt gotten a chance. Would I be out of luck otherwise?

Best bet is to go to the AT&T store (I'm assuming it's an AT&T preorder not Apple) and talk to a manager. You'll be surprised at the stuff managers can do if asked politely. I wouldn't say it's exactly a standard practice but preorders if they have yet to be shipped can be cancelled contrary to what most phone CSR's have said.

Hang in there folks. Fedex lady just delivered mine to me! ordered friday morning at 7 am est through premier.

Unbelievable!!!!   What is the purpose of pre-ordering if you can't get it until AFTER everyone else gets theres?  Did anyone else pre-order thinking theirs would be mailed to them on the day of release?  Shame on AT&T for such a ruse.

I did a pre-order on Friday the 14th and my order is still saying "Processing" where as others who have ordered on Saturday or even Sunday have already received their phones. This is clearly unacceptable to me and now I am contemplating whether or not I should remain an AT&T customer. I have had them for so many years and generally any issue I have is resolved, however they cant resolve this one. Very angering.

I've place an pre-order on Iphone 5 on Sep 14th, and keep tracking the status. On 19th it says my order is pending, the reason is cannot validate address.

 

Since I place this order under a friend's family plan by using "add a new line", my friend is in Indiana (the account billing address) and my current address is Houston, TX (the shipping address). I gusee this is why the att stopped the process and pend my order? 

 

I try to call the service (spent more than 30 minutes waiting for the anwer) and the representative said he cannot help!!! I just want to let you know I want to confirm there is no problem about this order, you just can ship it to Houston! How come you can not anything and keep the order pending then cancel it eventually? 

 

I tried several way to contact you, the numbers never work! My impression about att service and the system (including the design of the website) are really a mass! It seems you are not here to help us, you are help to make things more complex.

 

Anyone knows how to fix this problem, or I will think about to change to another provider.

I'm wondering if its possible to go to the ATT store, get the order canceled there, get the money back, and buy an iPhone 5 all in one go

Alas it is not possible to do so. I was assured by a store manager that they would be able to do 'something' and that would get my phone this morning if I went and waited for it in the store @ opening. I got there only to wait for 90 minutes and then be told by other staff members that no exchanges will be made or anything of the sort. Can't cancell anything. When I asked to see a manager I was refused. For the record I placed the order in store @9:26am for a white 64gb as an exchange shipped to the store. (wasn't given a choice on shipping). CSR on phone said your out of luck and to wait until the 4th.

I had a lot of issues after having had my order cancelled and not finding out about it til days later. Thanks to a great Apple CS supervisor by the name of Adan, they were able to re order for me and, miraculously, still got my order to me on release day.

Never again will I pre-order a phone from AT&T they make like its so important but im the guy who doesn't have his iphone while people are usign them right now. Am I mad? {word filter evasion} YES Did I preorder on the day they were taken? yep and I still don't even have a tracking or a date for when I will even get the phone. I feel so betrayed and used. I feel like if I pre-order I should be guaranteed my product on the day the product is released, Im sorry to people who didn't pre-order but I guess your enjoying your phone and could care less, but just cause you stood in a line doesn't mean you deserve the phone I already paid for. I also pre ordered early Friday morning in the store. I was told that it had to be delivered there and not to my home due to some system over ride. I called this morning, no phone but they had plenty in stock. I was also told that I cannot cancel my order, which I have no confirmations, no emails, nothing!

I just came from the AT&T store trying to cancel my fail "pending" preorder -_-. They told me I couldn't do it because quote "We try to keep it fair for people who didn't preorder so we can only sell our stock to them". Yes.. Its also fair how I ordered mine on the 14th early in the morning and people who ordered later are getting theirs today, thats so fair..

Here's my latest chat with AT&T Rep.  This lady was not very friendly....at all.

 

After all of this can someone answer me two questions?

1) how on earth is AT&T still in business?
2) where do they find these customer service reps?

AT&T has been lying since the preorder date of the 14th when they told everyone who pre-ordered that it would be delivered on the 21st

When I finally got hold of someone today they are saying possibly delivery between 10/ 7 and 10/21. Maybe??????????????????????????

 

I pre-ordered on the 14th but that doesn't seem to matter.

I don't understand their shipping. I called the store in hopes to cancel my pre-order and get one there. I was told no because my status shows as "shipped", which is to the store and given dates of 14-21 days.

How on earth does it take that long if it shows as shipped? You mean they shipped the iphone 5 for release date today 14-21 days prior cause I don't think so!

@T. Lynn  your phone isn't "shipped."  It's still being processed to ship which means its on back-order at this time.  Unfortunately, when you ordered your phone there was a Term & Conditions that had to be signed stating that we can't cancel a pre-order.  I'm in the same boat, my local AT&T stores all have the same exact phone I pre-ordered available.  So it would be absolutely easy for me to walk in and have one in hand in less than 30 minutes.  But no, I can't cancel my pre-order and have to wait for 3 weeks.

They didn't even have me sign anything or accept anything on the screen. The only thing I had to do was swipe my card.

Great, hope that doesn't hold up my order even longer!

The worst thing that there is nothing we can do. I also went to ATT store today stood in line the woman told me she will cancel my online order if it hasn't shipped, but wen i got to the regester they couldn't do it so now i'm stuck with no phone, mad and feeling helpless.. and on top of this all i still don't know when i will get my phone... this was my first pre order and my last ..maybe i should go to verizon they seem to have less problems Att .. i have nothing good to say about them i agree they're liars!

When I called, they only had 3 people in line so I could have easily gone & picked one up and been out the door. Now I'm stuck with my 3GS in which my vibrate button sticks, my phone doesn't ring when I get a call or when I'm on a call, my phone powers off.

I'm so ticked thinking that I should pre order so I'd have it on the 21st without the hassles. BIG MISTAKE!
