I am new to IPHONE.After registring for unlock At&T send me mail saying I am eligible to unlock and do teh backup and restore fr ITUNES.But when i connect Iphone the resore option not active. Should I insert sim in the iphone when i do this.I am fr Kuwait.If i need to insert the sim can i insert my local sime .

2. get a skype account if you don;t have one already to call them

3. call Customer Support: 1-800-331-0500 with all the required information, wait for the investigation for unlock is completed and look for the email telling you that it is eligible or it is not eligible

 

my iphone has firmware 5.0.1  and baseband 5.16.05  and it is locked to AT& T and someone has told me  that AT&T is unlocking those phones so what is the proedure for that can someone please tell me that.....as there is no other method to unlock  that phone because it is made in the 46th week according to serial number of it.....pls do help me i', in great pain......

look at the post right above your merged post and there are the instructions. Remember unlocks are not a given, you device has to meet the posted requirements or it will not be unlocked

You're kidding right?  I'll give you my AT&T account login and password if you give me your login and password to your online banking account; you can remove your bank account info and address...

 

Sounds like you were able to contact AT&T, given your comment about waiting 4 weeks and was "promised" an unlock...so not sure how using someone's AT&T account is going to change things for the better in your case.

I have an iPhone 3G that I purchased through eBay when I was in the US for about 9 month. After returning home to Germany I now learned there is an option to get the phone unlocked by AT&T.

How can I do this without having an At&t account?

etf for a iphone is 325.00 - 10.00 * active months), so it looks like 325.00 for the ETF, possiblely 315.00

 

As far as unlocking goes, go down to the Apple Device forum and look at the huge thread on how to do it.

I just recently bought an iphone4s off Ebay from America, I was told it was unlocked and could use ANY sim card in it... This was not the case. So, now I am stuck with an iphone that is completely unusable, can't even load music/pictures onto the thing.

Is there any way I can show proof of purchase off ebay and get this thing unlocked? I am 85% sure it was with AT&T...
Someone help...?

take a look at the requirements, then call them. Unles you can supply the information you maybe out of luck, Ebay is not a authorized dealeer, but it does not hurt to call them and see

 

Any SIM? Slow down. If a new SIM card does not work, that proves the phone is locked. If an existing SIM card is tried, it may be that the SIM card is locked. If so, get the SIM card unlocked so that you can use the iPhone. There is also the possibility that the phone could be locked too.

ATT is not going to get involved in your transaction between you and some seller on e-Bay.  If you do not qualify for having your iPhone unlocked, I would pursue eBay and the misrepresentations of the sale by the seller.   That is where your recourse if any would be.......     ATT would be responsible for the sale to the original purchaser and that is not you in this case.

I'm living abroad and i bought my iphone 4 (12/05/2011) from Apple Store in San Francisco it was locked with AT&T (no-contract),  i heared that AT&T annouced that they will unlock all iphones thats why i bought this phone, but unfortunatly the seller didn't help me and now i'm stuck because i can't use my phone on any other carriers outside the US.

 

Please i appriciate if someone can tell me how to make it exactly and if AT&T will help or it was only rumors.

Could you clarify me what I have to do to unlock my mobile.

If you had read the other posts, you would have found out that you need to contact AT&T directly. This website cannot unlock phones.
You will need your sales receipt.
Apples started selling unlocked phones before that time. You should have purchased an unlocked phone in the beginning.

i have bought a locked AT&T iphone 4 on ebay which is now off-contract. having found the hints in this forum i tried to call AT&T and managed to get through to somebody who was really helpful. i was informed that unlock was basically possible. however, in addition to the IMEI which i was able to supply he also wanted the full name of the contract owner plus the last four digits of the social security number of that person. i immediately contacted the ebay seller asking him to supply the required info. unfortunately there has not been a reply in several days. is there a way to get the unlock code without this extra info? does anybody have experience with this problem?

Hello, I am a resident of Pakistan. A relative of mine was visiting America recently and I asked him to get me an iPhone 4. He purchased one through Amazon. Unfortunately for me, it's currently locked on AT&T. The phone was delivered on the last day of his stay so he wasnt able to check if it was unlocked. He Incidentally had an AT&T prepaid SIM so it worked for him. He didnt get time to check it out on other networks. The phone has been under contract for nearly 2 years, I have checked this through iTools on my PC. Therefore, it is eligible for a free unlock from AT&T. I am wondering if anyone could perhaps help me with this issue and get my phone unlocked? Alternatively, if someone could give me the contact details of someone who can help me with this. I tried looking on the official website, however, that asked me to register and required me to provide my residence address in America, my AT&T email address etc, things that I don't have. I also went through these forums and am aware of the rules that are stated multiple times in the mega unlocking thread. However, like I said, I do not know who was the person who originally owned the phone nor am I aware of his contact number etc. Any help in this regard would be much appreciated. Currently I have paid for an iPhone but I really have a rather expensive iPod for now. Regards.

get skype -  contact customer care  department at 800-331-0500 or +1 916-843-4685 if you are outside th us. Chances are that if you cannot supply the information the phone wil not be unlocked, you need to start teh process to see teh end results. No one on the forums can tell you anything

there is no official way of unlocking the ATT iphone without supplying the required information to att. Would suspect that most people that bought from ebay are expieriencing the same issue that you are. ATT wants the information supplied before they will unlock the phone, that is the way they set it up. Would be surprised if the seller supplies ytou that information, not sure anyone that is security aware will supply their social security / tax id number or their account information, especially if the account is still active.
