May 2013 ACE of the month - Wild Banchi

1. Wild Banchi - you're not really a banshee ghost, are you? How'd you pick that user name?
No, I'm not a wild banshee, although it would be awesome if I were. I picked my user name after the name of my cat (Banchi) when she was still alive. My mom always called her the "wild banshee", so that's how she got her name, and how I got my user name.
2. What do you do when you're not hanging out in the community?
When I'm not popping in here from time to time, I'm listening to music, riding my bike, (when it's warm outside!) working in the yard, visiting with friends and family, researching new smartphones, and fooling around with my own looking at pictures of Escalades. I am a car fanatic. My dad has worked at General Motors for the past couple decades and I suppose it has rubbed off on me. You know what they say - like father, like son!
3. You joined the community in December, 2009. What brought you here?
The Jimmy John's sign that says "Free Smells" in the window and the free stuff AT&T sends the ACEs brought me here. JUST KIDDING! I was fed up with Verizon and wanted to find a different carrier or drop using a cell phone altogether. A friend of mine recommended AT&T, so I was curious and interested. My parents subscribe to AT&T's home phone service, and I was sifting through their mail one day when I found an AT&T wireless ad. I went to the website and discovered all that I needed to know. I decided that GoPhone service would be the best for me, and I officially became a customer on 12/25/2009. Over the past few years, I have gotten my brother and sister to be a part of the AT&T GoPhome family, as well as my mom who is using my old iPhone 3GS - her first smartphone. She loves it. She just wishes that it had a better quality camera... She is paying half her previous bill with Verizon every month and seems to like the service about the same, although the coverage is slightly reduced in some areas. Nobody's perfect.
4. Summer blockbuster movies will be hitting theaters later this month. What are some of your favorite films?
For me, I like comedies. Shallow Hal and The Hot Chick are some of my favorites. The Scary Movie series is also really fun to watch. I just saw the most recent one (Scary Movie 5) last Saturday. It was okay, although I liked some of the previous ones better. I also like horror/suspense-filled movies, although some of them can be pretty cheesy. Jeepers Creepers will forever be a classic!
5. Michigan license plates often read, "Water Winter Wonderland." Any great "water wonderland" plans this summer?
Darn right they do! I see them all the time at car shows in the summertime. As far as plans go, the family and I go up north to Traverse City twice every summer. It's awesome up there. Lake Michigan is probably the best lake out of all three Great Lakes. I would retire to TC if I don't end up moving there within the next few years. As far as other summer plans go, we live on the Saginaw Bay, so jet-skiing and pontoon boat rides will probably be part of the equation.
6. What's your favorite phone right now and why?
Don't get me wrong - I love my iPhone 4. It does everything I want it to and then some. My favorite "new" phone would probably have to be the iPhone 5 (in black). It's pretty much everything that's great about the 4, just with various newer upgrades. The Android powerhouses including the Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X have also seemed to grab my attention. The brand new S IV and HTC One look very promising, though...the build quality on the One is absolutely stunning. The S IV takes very nice pictures. Maybe they're something that will take me away from the love of iOS?
7. You could be called "Mr. Prepaid" in the wireless community. What's your favorite kind of question to answer?
My favorite kinds of questions to answer are the easy ones. The "can this phone be used on a GoPhone plan" ones are my favorite because I like seeing the satisfaction people get when they realize that AT&T will allow them to use any AT&T-branded or unlocked phone of their choice; even smartphones. If AT&T dropped the ability to use a smartphone without a data plan on their prepaid accounts, I would probably have to consider switching to another carrier...I have no plans of leaving AT&T anytime soon.
8. Whom do you admire most in the community, and why?
Well, there are many great contenders, but my main role models would have to be hme83 and wilcre. They have educated me the most about how prepaid works, and I would not know NEARLY as much as I do if it weren't for their insight and helpfulness. They are the prepaid Gurus. Dcookie and I have been friends ever since I joined the Forum, and I always enjoy chatting with her and her fellow accomplice, Ann154. RicoLX was always a blast to talk with and made visiting the Forum something to look forward to. wingrider01 taught me how to argue and be firm with people that can't seem to follow or take the time to read the TOS.
I wouldn't have over 6,000 posts without their help
