My recommendation would be to go to a brick and mortar att wireless store. NOT an authorized reseller, but a genuine att wireless store. Speak to a rep. Start from the top. The manager can override MOST upgrade requirements. If your requirement cannot be overridden by the manager, they will let you contact att. They can override anything, but you are at the mercy of the quality of the CSR. Some are amazing, some only follow the script. But if you do it from the store with a purchase on the line, they tend to be FAR more creative than they otherwise would.
Make sure that it is a genuine att wireless store and NOT an authorized reseller. The difference is noted on the "find a store" website.
