As for att wireless and their unlock policy, I hear you on that one. I wish that they would look at our contract history and make that decision. If I have been a customer for years and buy a new model of phone every time it comes out, occasionally having to pay full price, I should be able to unlock the phone without much grief.
Unfortunately, the trend with all of these exclusive and high end phones, is the carrier lock.
Resolution: amazon.com, search unlocked (enter phone name here) after its release. You'll have to pay full price, but the phone comes factory direct and has NO CARRIER LOCK.
I have my reasons for buying carrier devices, at times. I also buy unlocked devices when they suit my needs. AT&T used to be better about unlocking phones; now, they are hit and miss with what they want to do.
By the way, I got my Lumia 900 unlocked today from AT&T. This is opening my eyes to a whole new set of problems that I have with the Windows Phone OS. I think that I'm just not a convert to Windows Phone.
