tilt 2 (copy contacts?)

Is it really necessary to use the new sim?  AT&T solution is to transfer contacts from old sim onto old device and then putting in the new sim and copying them onto there.

No, if you have your old SIM, just use that (unless it's not 3G, then you might want to use the new 3G SIM).

Contacts on the SIM card have very limited functionality on a smartphone. Make sure you import all your contacts into your new Tilt 2 and sync it to your PC or internet server.

Re: tilt 2 (copy contacts?)
I just used my old SIM.  No problem.  I wondered that myself.  However I have lost a few numbers.  I guess they were not saved to my SIM card.  But I thought it would not matter, because all of my contacts were sync'd with my outlook so I thought once it sync'd they would reappear.  No luck.  But i still have my old phone so no big problem.

I do think some of the newer SIMs are faster and have a higher capacity.  I doubt you would notice the speed, and if you don't need the extra capacity, there is no real need to switch SIMs.

Re: tilt 2 (copy contacts?)
SIM contacts can not be synced, assign individual ringtons, assign photos or have multiple phone numbers per contacts. So, I won't save a single contact into my SIM unless you need to swap SIM with another dumbphone quite often.
