What's your vote?

Most people swear by the Iphone. I particularly think android is better. I even own a Mac and an Iphone would undoubtedly compliment it very well but I just think the phone sucks. What your preference? Android or Iphone, and for our business professionals I'll throw in Blackberry.

Long story short I dropped it. Best buy was supposed to fix it but they backed out of the agreement when I went in to get it done and asurion want me to pay them twice what I paid for the phone.

REALLY?? I bought mine from Best Buy, PLUS, I pay $10/mo for some kind of Black Tie program. Supposedly, if ANYTHING happens to my phone, water, battery, ANYTHING at all, it's supposed to be replaced with a new one. I haven't had to use it, thank God, but I wonder if the insurance is everything it's cracked up to be? Plus, I'm in a buy back program of some kind...when I get a new phone, they'll buy this one back and pay me $120. I may take them up on it since I "think" we may possibly be defecting to that V company once our contracts are up. My service in my house is horrible!! I'm lucky if I can send a text message when I'm '"supposed" to have 3G. I need to switch my phone to 2G, when I'm at home, to get any decent signal bars, otherwise I have 1 or none. It's VERY aggravating...

I have never used an Android phone before, but I have used an iPhone.  I like the iPhone because I can get pretty much any application for it that I would want.

Re: What's your vote?
Well I would suggest you go on the BestBuy website and look at what ppl have to say about the black-tie program. They do tell you when you sign up that they will replace it "no questions asked" that rarely happens when you get in the store. I you have time read over the entire terms and agreements just so that you are prepared for any surprises in the event that you have to try to get a replacement. As far as the defecting part, GOOD JOB! At least you have realized when a ship has run it's course and should be abandoned!

dancewithmi...thanks for the info and I will be certain to do just that. Maybe I'll end up cancelling the insurance after I read about it. Boy, I guess Best Buy'll try to sell you anything. I'll let you know what happens. :smileyhappy:

i think almost every phone on the market is garbage, droid included, for one simple reason- Bloatware. you get a new phone, but before you have it there's all this 3rd party software that's crammed into it. every provider has them, sprint has "Sprint Football" and "Sprint Nascar"

i wouldn't mind them so much if they could be removed, or could be edited so that they did not launch constantly checking for updates, draining your battery unnecessarily.

iphone is the worst, no doubt, because they don't let you see everything that's running the same way that droid does.

if you put a phone on the market for 3-600 dollars, it had better be something i can tune and filter out garbage i don't want. {word filter evasion}, it should be at least EMPTY. any takers?

@slammish, If you have the time you can go to certain websites that will teach you step by step how to alter the programs and contents. The frown upon it heavily and will sometimes void your warranty when you do it but I can be worth it. I have seen my brother take a phone 2 years old and make it work to spec with new ones just from tweaking the OS or changing it out completely. Might be something you want to look into.

Re: What's your vote?

my droid is in dev mode and i can already cut out all of the apps i don't want, i just don't like doing it. and then all of those annoying Zynga apps that load automatically to update themselves at scheduled times, etc. i want control of my phone and just can't get it.

and it was only one word that was edited, it's where the devil lives.

DCookie is right, the Nexus GSM phones don't come with bloatware.  Also, iPhones don't come with bloatware.

Also, Ice Cream Sandwich allows you to disable apps that you don't want, so you get almost the same effect as if they were never there.

Oh, and Android is my favorite platform by far!

Re: What's your vote?

I vote for the iPhone, which is what I am still using going on 4 years. I've used various Android devices in the past including the most recent Google Galaxy Nexus which I returned after 3 days. For me it's all about the apps and how nicely the device works with my iPad. I just can't get all of the apps that I have on my iPad and iPhone with Android yet. Also, most Androids with the exception of the Google Nexus do not get timely OS updates the way they do with iOS devices. That said, I think either OS is fine and really comes down to user preference. :smileyhappy:

This is simply not correct. If you want to see what is running in the background with the iPhone you double tap the home button. All apps that you no longer want to be in the multitasking tray can be closed from there just as they can be on a Android device.

I still like what iPhone has to offer mainly an app for almost anything I want plus it doubles as a very nice iPod.

Agree with oz, since I have some Apps that still aren't offered in the Android Market.  But NOT happy about iPhone's new Lightning connector as my blood pressure device will need an adapter when I get a new iPhone.  That's $30! :smileymad:

That is one which is not available for Android, and probably because it is made with Apple's connector!

I started out with iTunes on my PCs before I even had an mp3 player, and 99.9% of my purchases are now DRM-free.

Re: What's your vote?

I bet the new plug has future applications since the old 30pin probably had its limits think

Lightning to Thunderport or Lightning to USB3 for faster restore or photo/music transfer just my opinion mind you.

Apple just does not change a connector without having a speed benifit involed down the road or at least its been their history so far.

Re: What's your vote?

Personally, I like Android because of the amount of customization the platform allows straight from the box and the aftermarket support provided by the various devs on all the forums out there. Android has its strengths, and definitely has some advantages over iOS, but the opposite can be said as well.

Ultimately, it all depends on what YOU need from your phone as the end user. Also, don't worry about BB. Because of their complacency, they're pretty much going the way of WinMo.

It's a matter of personal taste and need.. I love my iPhone and have no plans for going with imitations.. Nokia would be my 2nd option just for being original. The rest bunch of craproids that I couldn't care less about

Have tried both Android and now have an iPhone. Android was too slow and lagging for me. iPhone suits me just about perfectly. I just think they're used more as a fashion accessory than an actual phone that people prefer.
