Anyone else considered moving to Verizon for better coverage?

ATT has to many dropped calls on my iPhone, but is it worth it mathematically to switch over from two iPhones to 2 Droid Incredibles with Verizon?  I already have a full Verizon triple play package in my home.  Has anyone already done the math?

Sincerely,

TIRED of bad coverage

Re: Anyone else considered moving to Verizon for better coverage?

I've considered switching a few different times. I had my AT&T Samung Mythic in one room, and my friend's Verizon little LG VX8860 flip phone in the same room. I tried sending text messages at the same time to determine the faster speed. (About three bars of EDGE) Mythic's: around five seconds. VX8860 Flip's: about two seconds.

There are places in my home where I will receive absolutely no coverage. This is quite frustrating. I get no bars in my kitchen, while my Mom's Verizon Samsung Reality will get two bars of EDGE, PLUS 1-2 bars of 3G! That's completely unfair.

Although, out in the "open country" fields, I will get 6-7 bars of 3G, while my Mom's phone will get around 4-5. This is one good privelege about my service, I suppose. I like my phone. I like my plan. But sometimes my service, well...doesn't crack up to what it COULD be.

I'm on AT&T prepaid. May consider switching over to Verizon prepaid, if they let you have any phone you desire to be used on prepaid. I don't like Verizon's pricey plans, either. But I guess that's what you have to pay for "good" coverage.

I have been with AT&T since Christmas of '09. Almost a year. I'd like to stay with them for about four more years, minimum. But my coverage in my home isn't that great.

Many of my friends and even my family have Verizon. Maybe I'll be joining them, soon... :smileysad:

I have also considered switching...NOW, more than ever. My service seems to be getting worse as the days go by. I don't know what happened to ATT lately? I've been with them since the mid 90's. Ever since they switched to 2G, it has gotten worse...3G is NO better, IMO. Service was MUCH better when they were CDMA, IMO. I have been getting more MISSED calls as of lately and I don't like it ONE bit!!! My phone has service but on occasion, will not even RING when someone is trying to call me!! And, if you're NOT into the Quick Messaging devices or smartphones, ATT's list of phones leaves something to be desired... :smileyindifferent: I think I'll keep my Nokia Mural 'til it turns to dust...

I feel your pain, Dcookie. Sigh... :smileysad:

My only condition is, I have to learn more about their prepaid service. They will have to allow me to use a desired (Verizon) phone of my choice, with their service. Otherwise, I'll not even touch them.

I know, I'm hard to please. :smileywink:

But go ahead and keep that Mural goin'. It'll save you money in the long run... :smileywink:

LOL!! Thanks Wild Banchi. I really would consider buying another Nokia, when the time comes, but ATT seems to no longer be carrying Nokia, or at least, not any that I would want to pay for. I may have to find one elsewhere that I can use with ATT and somehow get the correct settings for it. :smileywink:

just a little fyi did you know that verizon's prepaid plans are just as high as contract when you have a smartphone..and plus you cant have just any verizon phone on prepaid either because they have select few i know i tried ..and the select few are not always what you might like plain phones..so its a tough decision between having a smartphone and paying the same price as contract or having a plain phone for the unlimited plans

I think most people are thinking about it. Verizon people are happier with their service. Their phones and service work.

I would give up my iPhone before I would go back to Verizon, and I love my iPhone. I would add the app AT&T has for dropped calls.

Do it! The iphone is over-rated and it's not like you are going to get any type of appreciation if you stick around. If's it's better for you money by all means cancel and switch.
