No need to be embarassed.

 

Go to Settings>Storage, and you should see an option to perform a factory data reset.  Might be slightly different, as I am on an HTC One X, not an Inspire.  But should be same or similar.

 

All user data will be deleted.  Gmail and contacts synched to Gmail are already backed up on the cloud (and will automatically restore after you reset).  But you will lose other email, texts (you can use apps like SMS Backup+), application data (like game saves), contacts not synched to Gmail, etc.

 

Doesn't always work, but many times it will clear up random bugs.  Its one of the first things they will tell you to do, if you contact AT&T or HTC.
