Samsung Infuse 4G™ (i997) - Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Software Update

The upgrade to Android 2.3.6 for the Samsung Infuse 4G™ (i997) provides the following customer benefits and will be available starting February 1st:

 

•             Improved Copy and Paste functionality

•             Redesigned Multi Touch Software Keyboard

•             Download manager for long running HTTP downloads

•             Improved power management and application control

•             Notification Shade: “Flight Mode” added (“Silent” removed)

•             New Fonts options added include Choco Cooky, Cool Jazz, Rosemary

•             Keyboard Changes: Android Keyboard with Wider Spaced keys and Quick Keys at the top

•             New Widgets: The name of the content provider will be listed on the widget list along with the widget name. Previously only the widget name was provided.

•             New Widget: Traffic (Android) added to list of available widgets

•             Menu Changes/New Apps: Downloads and Google Books added new, Promotional pre-load of Angry Birds removed*.

 

*Note: The update will remove the promotional Angry Birds pre-load from the device. If you’ve started playing the game, you would need to re-download from the Marketplace and start from the beginning of the game.

 

 

UPDATE 2/8: Samsung and AT&T are aware there is an issue with the Infuse 4G update that affects a small number of users. We currently have put a hold on the update while we are developing a fix.

 

 

 UPDATE 4/5: The Samsung Infuse Update is available for download! Please visit  http://www.samsung.com/us/infuseupgrade/gb1 to download the update. 

 

Remember - The update resets the phone to the factory default settings. Please ensure that all data such as contacts, music, and photos, is backed up to the SD card or an alternate memory device (i.e., PC).

The download link takes me to a Samsung page that says "Page Not Found"

Load Kies mini, and see if the upgrade button allows you to upgrade.

 

The link provide is either wrong or yet to activated by Samsung.

I installed the Samsung Kies Mini and it says I have a "unregistered device", no option to upgrade

Thanks for the update seems the Upgrade hasn't rolled out yet since the Upgrade button is greyed out.

Funny how this update comes MONTHS too late and WEEKS before ICS.  Not to mention, the phone is now in "irrelevant" status. smh

The promo Angry Birds was part of the inital product launch that doesn't include updates and new levels, plus had a contest entry drawing associated with it that has since expired.  Simply put, the free version in the Android Market is WAY better now.

Seems like it was just AT&T blowing more smoke I swear they hold these updates to make you buy a new phone I'm really gettig sick of there stalling!

What word? Oh, you mean the word where the update was supposed to be delivered last SEPTEMBER? This has fail written all over it on many levels. Samsung hardware is great, but updates shouldn't take a year. The majority of people have long since moved to a custom ROM thanks to the android OS. What they SHOULD have been working on was an ICS update instead...

 

And let's not get started on why AT&T is pretty much the only major carrier with NO new Google Nexus phone running ICS...

So I am all ready for this update to be released...installed Kies Mini...but it is saying Unregistered Device under Firmware version??? Also Phone Upgrade is grayed out but I assume that is because the update has yet to release. This is getting annoying FOR SURE. Waiting so long for Gingerbread now that ICS is out and they are developing Strawberry Shortcake. Always SO LATE. Thanks AT&T!!!

I personally love the fact that the OP was at 5:something AM, and here we are 12hours later in the same place we were, oh, six months ago...waiting for ATT/Samsung to pull their collective heads out.

Everything I have seen online says Rodgers already has the update and have had it for a while.

Thats why you already have it you can downloand kies mini and check to see if they have an update for it just go to Samsungs site and pick your carrier then pick your phone and look for downloads and check there. Wow you got it out of the box like that we have been waiting since July for this update and now they say its here and its not but yeah thats AT&T for you!

Does this update delete the data from phone? If it does delete, how do I take backup of my data from phone? Please advice me on this.
